07/27/16 - "Get Messy - Season of Introspection"

Today I am sharing a few of pages I created for the "Get Messy Season of Introspection".

Before I share them I would like to share some blog links of previous pages I made:
The first 2 pages that I created and shared are here (clickable link): "Getting Messy...Again"

And this page, although not very full of "introspection", was inspired by a prompt from the "Season" so I count it (clickable link): "I Wish"

Okay, on to what I came here to share (photos plus their Instagram captions - the "@" addresses are clickable also if your interested in doing so):

"I Am Groot"
My creation based on @getmessyartjournal Art Prompt No. 2 from Week 1; as suggested by @dansmoncrane....  I can't share the actual prompt but I will say it had something to do with ink blots. We're supposed to be getting all deep and "Introspection"-like, but nah... I see a Disney character, LOL!
06/19/16

"Quiet"
I saw the photo in a magazine and had an instant love for it! I ripped it out and glued it into my art journal with no idea what to do with it. A few days later I came across an art journal page on IG created by @mkranthony and her words summed up my feelings perfectly and went so well with the photo! I borrowed some of her journaling and added some of my own to finish my page. Thank you Molly for the inspiration/the final "piece" that helped me to finish this page!
07/06/16

"Rose Colored Glasses"
(This may be) my last page for the @GetMessyArtJournal "Season of Introspection".
This was inspired not by a specific prompt but by the idea of Introspection in general (despite what I wrote at the bottom of the page; just realized the error); most of my pages for this season were like that! I did not draw the sunglasses; it is a photo from the internet. Since joining "Get Messy" I've discovered I'm more of a "journalist" than an "artist"... but I'm okay with that. I still enjoy the creative process of making "art journal" pages! The "Season of Introspection" is officially over. I'm looking forward to the next "season" as its theme is something I absolutely love! If you're thinking "food?"... you're wrong, but great guess, LOL! You'll find out soon enough! 😉
07/27/16

That makes 6 pages created for the season...
Which isn't as much as I would have liked but more than I did last Season (I did zero last season)!

Despite the lack of quantity of pages created, I still enjoyed the process of creating and the finished product!

07/20/16 - "I Wish" (An Art Journal Page)

I realize I'm behind on sharing my art journal pages again...
It's so hard to keep up w/ my creative side when I have to work 10 hours every day.
(I'm kidding/not kidding)
If I had more free time I would be so much more creative and/or at least be able to keep up w/ sharing my creations!

I need to create a blog post w/ all my most recent art journal pages.
Until I do that I at least want to share what I created today:

"I Wish"

It's nothing fancy...
Just 2 of my favorite things:
1. Art Journaling (via magazine cut-outs) and
2. Song Lyrics

In this case 2 songs w/ the same title: "I Wish"
Skee-Lo's 1995 version and Cher Lloyd's 2013 version.

May seem random but my thought process went like this:
Saw photos of "skee-ball" > thought of "Skee-Lo" > thought of his song "I Wish" > thought of Cheryl Lloyd's version of "I Wish"> created art journal page

Art journaling doesn't need to be complicated...
Neither does the creative process.
Sometimes my most favorite pages are the fast and simple ones!

And for some added fun here are the videos for the 2 songs referenced in this page:

Skee-Lo:
https://youtu.be/ryDOy3AosBw

Cher Lloyd:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EWINVP3B9A

Curious to know if your familiar w/ either (or both songs)?

Thanks for stopping by!

06/16/16 - Getting "Messy" Again

I took a break from "Get Messy" for a couple of reasons:
 1. I wasn't feeling motivated to create outside of scrapbooking
     - as an artist I feel I'm a better scrapbooker than art journaler

2. The last Season of "Get Messy" wasn't really 'my cup of tea'
    - it was the "Season of Lists"
And to me, making lists sounds more like work than fun.

So I took a break.
I continued to create through scrapbooking, but although I was enjoying concentrating on the one art form, I really started to miss "Get Messy" and art journaling in general (despite the fact that I'm not very good at it).

Last week the new Season began: the "Season of Introspection"
And despite the fact that I am already a week behind I am determined to join in!

I created my first 2 pages yesterday -

Here they are together:

And here they are separately:

-Page One: "Who Am I"-

(Page one) was inspired by the first "Art Journal" prompt for Week1 and the quote I used is the quote that was shared with us with the prompts for Week 2...so basically I combined a little of both from the 2 separate weeks. Whatever works, right?
Funny thing about this page is I used a list format to include all the things "I am..."
Didn't I just say I hated lists?!? LOL
Which makes me think I may be able to go back to the "Season of Lists" and create few pages after all.

My list, in case you can't read it on the page, is as follows:

- Wife
-Mother
-Animal Lover
-Coffee Addict
-Artist
-Foodie
-Fitness Enthusiast
-Book Lover
-Selfie Taker
-Netflix Junkie
-Introvert
-Music Lover
-Memory Keeper
-Over thinker
-Snoopy Lover
-Queen (of useless information)

-Page Two: "Bitch" -

(Page two) was inspired by my page one.
As I was thinking of things to list I kept saying in my head "I am a/an..." and that reminded me of a song that came out in 1997 that I loved (and still love) and I decided it would be fun to go down memory lane and include the (chorus) lyrics on an art journal page.
It's nothing fancy but I like it, and I totally relate, LOL!  I am both sides of the coin, going from one extreme to the next w/ no warning (my poor husband)... so when I read the lyrics/sing the song I'm like "YUP"!

Lyrics (because my handwriting isn't always legible):

"I'm a bitch, I'm a lover
I'm a child, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell, I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know you wouldn't want it any other way

I'm a bitch, I'm a tease
I'm a goddess on my knees
When you hurt, when you suffer
I'm your angel undercover
I've been numb, I'm revived
Can't say I'm not alive
You know I wouldn't want it any other way"

Do you know the song?
Here's the link to the You Tube video - be kind, remember this is from 1997:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ivt_N2Zcts

That's all for today.
Hope to be sharing more pages w/ you soon!

03/28/16 -"Get Messy Habit" Weeks #7 and #8

I haven't been around...
Maybe you noticed, maybe you didn't...
it's okay.
I was on Spring Break so other than some Instagram, there wasn't a whole lot of internet/social media usage.
Which means you didn't see my most recent "Get Messy Habit" pages (unless you follow me on IG also).

Technically since we are in between "seasons" at "Get Messy" I no longer have to do this.
But I found it fun, and I like making myself commit to the weekly posting because it helps me to commit to my creating!

So w/out further ado, here are weeks #7 and #8 along w/ the captions that I wrote when posting them to Instagram:

Week #7
Official or not #GetMessyHabit has become a habit.
This week's creation is in honor of #StPatricksDay and our upcoming #BucketList goal of going to #Ireland.
The leaves were created by using a heart stencil, the stem was freehand.
Oh, and I bought a set of 8 crayola crayons from the grocery store for 99cents ☺
03/18/16

Week #8
It's 10:42 PM...
(which explains the #BadLighting)
I'm tired and ready for bed and then I remember its Friday...
Which means its #GetMessyHabit day.
So I quickly make this and now I'm off to dreamland.
Goodnight!

03/15/16 - Get Messy Week #6

Hello!
Sharing my "Get Messy" creations from last week: Week 6; AKA the last week of "Season of Happy".
I'm sad it's over but it was a lot of fun!
And as I stated in my last "Get Messy" blog post I may still go back and finish up some old prompts IF I have time.
But I honestly probably wont because a new GM Season is starting soon!
Okay on to last week's pages:

The first one is silly, but I 'm pretty sure your used to that from me by now...
For those that are new to my blog, if you plan to continue to read it...you NEED to get used to it, LOL!

This is based on an art prompt that had to do w/ making our BG a certain way...
(For GM peeps, it was Art Prompt #1 for Week 6)
The "red" part of my BG follows that guideline.

The rest of it was my own creation based on the quote I wrote on the PL card:
Here's the quote in case you can't read my writing:

“‘When you wake up in the morning, Pooh,’ said Piglet at last, ‘what’s the first thing you say to yourself’
‘What’s for breakfast?’ said Pooh. ‘What do you say, Piglet?’
‘I say, I wonder what’s going to happen exciting today’ said Piglet.
Pooh nodded thoughtfully. ‘It’s the same thing,’ he said.”

-A. A. Milne

Technically the quote was just shared w/ us; it wasn't part of any art or journal prompt.
But I really liked it! It made my smile and it resonated w/ my love of food!

"Food"

Journaling: "Despite losing 28lbs and still counting calories to maintain the
loss, I still LOVE food...just in moderation!
#Foodie"

I have never been a fan of Winnie the Pooh, but now I feel a kinship w/ him, LOL
I really do love food!
People don't believe that, or that I even eat, because of how "skinny" (their words not mine) I am.
But you can eat food, enjoy food, love food without overindulging... again, it's about moderation.
And I have been maintain my weight loss while still enjoying all of my favorite foods, for almost a year now. If you're wondering, some of my favorite foods are cookies, ice cream, nachos, fast food, and high calorie Starbucks drinks, the list goes on... so yes, it can be done!

For the page I used red and yellow as my color scheme because those are the colors of Pooh; he's yellow/gold and wears a red polo shirt.
I thought the BG was a bit boring so I spruced it up w/ rows of different lengths of "paw print" washi tape, one of my favorite tapes, because bears have paws.
Finally I added a some fun glitter yellow alphas and a button because I've been all about the buttons (again) lately!

The second page is inspired by a prompt but the way it came to be was not intentional.

"Happiness is..."

The double page spread says "Happiness is...taking a risk and it working out" but it could also be called "Happiness is...finding a fun way to use up leftover or rejected craft items" because that's what most of this page is:

- The black and white BG was created for a scrapbook page I was working on, but I didn't like the way it looked with the rest of the page. I just going to place it in my scrap stash but then I realized that w/ a little bit of trimming it would fit well in my art journal.

- The photo was rejected because I had forgotten to check the settings on my printer before printing it and the colors printed a bit distorted. I really didn't want to throw it away though, so I just glued it on to the B&W BG I had just adhered to my art journal. I love the way after I glued it in and worked on another art journal page behind it, that the rubbing against the back of the photo kind of distressed the front of it a bit... Totally unintentional but love the look!

-The "happy" flower embellishment is a mini bag that I found in my stash while looking for another item. I knew I would never use it on a layout, and since it had the word "happy" on it and we are in the "Season of Happy" and Madi is "happy" in the photos, it just made sense to add it to the page as well.

-The yellow journaling spot was a piece I cut off of another journaling spot for a layout I was making The original journaling spot was too long and consisted of a large and a small journaling spot separate from each other. I cut the small part off and thought it would be perfect for the "title" spot on this page.

The only pieces I purposely chose for this project were the "Live For Today" sticker, the yellow buttons, and the file label to write journaling on: "Madison cuts off most of her hair & streaks it purple (and loves it!)"

So this page is truly a "happy" accident.
BTW -
The layout I shared yesterday, is where all the rejected/leftover pieces came from: Madi's New Locks

Okay, so that's it for today.

I find it funny that I say that after practically writing a book!
I'm an introvert by nature, but once I start "talking" you can't shut me up, LOL!

03/10/16 - "Get Messy Habit" Week #6

It's Friday!
My Friday off...whoop-whoop!

And it's also my "Get Messy Habit" day!

This is week #6 that I have consistently posted an art journal creation of mine.
Which is/was the goal of "Get Messy Habit".
It took me a bit to find my groove, but I did it.

> I had started out posting a "random" page - Week 1
> Then I posted 2 pages that were inspired by (a) "Get Messy" prompts(s)/season - Week 2
But then I considered that "cheating" and decided that "Get Messy Habit" creations should
be in addition to the prompt/season inspired creations
>So then I posted another random page - Week 3 (this is also when I started blogging them as a
separate project) Blog Post GMH Wk #3
>And another - Week 4 / Blog Post GMH Wk #4
>And yet another - Week 5 / Blog Post GMH Wk #5

And finally we are here today - Week 6.

I made 2 pages this week because I felt like I should make up for "cheating" on Week 2 (even though it wasn't intentional).
And also I had so much fun making the 1st page I wanted to make another.

"Got Abstract?"/"Abstract #2"
(And a couple of clips to hold my pages down for photographing since,my art journal is
a wreck - but a "happy", "well-loved" wreck!).

I went full elementary school mode  w/ coloring!
I haven't colored like that in a long time and it was not only fun but freeing!

A couple of Christmases ago I asked for and received an "adult" coloring book... No not that kind of "adult", get your mind out of the gutter, LOL... and some markers and I liked it at first but quickly got bored. The adult coloring books are very detailed and to me it was too much work.
I don't want to work when I'm coloring; that takes all the fun out of it!
So I will stick w/ this method instead.

Wow, I can't believe the 6 weeks are over already!!
Also over?
"Get Messy - Season of Happy"...
Although because I post my pages a week behind I will have some  "happy" pages to share next week.
Plus, I may go back and create for the prompts I haven't yet completed...
so hopefully there will be a lot more "happy" coming at you through out the year, both IRL and from my blog!

Oh and the end of "Season of Happy" means the start of another "Season".
I don't know what it is yet but I'll find out soon enough and you will too!

Before I leave I thought I would circle round back to "adult" and "coloring" w/ this funny little video from "Sex in the City"...

Hope you enjoy!

03/09/16 - Get Messy Week #5

Hello!
Sharing my "Get Messy" creations from last week, Week 5.

The first page  was actually inspired by a "Get Messy" journal prompt from Week # 4...
Yeah I'm a little behind, but inspiration doesn't always strike when you want it to.
Anyway...
The prompt had us listen to/read the lyrics to Baz Luhrmann’s song Everybody’s Free to Wear Sunscreen  and then...
well I can't tell you the rest but I can tell you that this page was inspired by 2 verses in that song:
"Do NOT read beauty Magazines, they will only make you feel ugly."
and
"You're not as fat as you imagine"

 "Do NOT Read Beauty Magazines"

I chose those 2 lines because as a person who has always had body issues I was just drawn to them.
I struggled w/ my weight and body image all my life, I put myself on my first diet at the age of 10 (no kidding!) and even went through bouts of bulimia and anorexia.
Even now, after having recently lost 28 pound the correct way, I still look in the mirror and see flaws.
But I am learning to love myself.
I feel much better now after having lost the weight, and most importantly I am healthier, but after spending almost 30 years of your life "hating" your body it's not easy to get out of that mind frame.

So the quotes are from that song and the photos are from the online site for Tilly's clothing store; Tilly's is my favorite place to shop!

And I didn't realize until AFTER I added the quotes to my page that they both contained the word "not". When I did realize, I decided to highlight them to make them stand out and to add some extra color to the page.

And before I forget... if you get a chance, check out the song/lyrics:

I think you'll also enjoy it!

My second page came from 3 sources of inspiration:
1. A "Get Messy " Art prompt from Week 5  - it had to do w/ listening to music...
    again can't go into detail.
2. the "Get Messy - Season of Happy".
3. A fellow Get Messian who recently did an art journal about her love of coffee.
She inspired me because even though I do truly love my coffee, I've already done a coffee page and thought I shouldn't do another one, even if it was a different type of page, but when I saw hers I felt the NEED to create it!

The quote in black, on the top on the left hand page, and the "Too Much Is Never Enough", repeated on the right hand page, are lyrics from  the song "Never Enough" by One Direction.
Yes, them again!!
Well, it IS the "Season of Happy" and it was a music prompt so "Happy Music" to me = 1D
#SorryNotSorry

"Never Enough...Coffee"
"Get Messy" Week 5 Art Prompt Got Me Like:
 - Serenading my cup of coffee w/ a One Direction Song, LOL

Journaling: "I love coffee a little too much. If it wasn't for the calories, I would drink
it ALL DAY everyday. Unfortunately I'll just have to settle for 2-4 cups a day
(usually just 2)"

IG Link: Never Enough...Coffee

So there you have it!
I wasn't as creative this past week: only 1 layout and 2 art journal pages
But I've created more in the 3 months of this year than I did ALL of last year!

And I have 2 3 more art journal ideas in my head to go w/ the Week 5 prompts...
too bad we are in week 6 though!

03/04/16 - "Get Messy Habit" Week #5

It's Friday!

Today I am sharing my "Get Messy Habit" week #5 page.

A reminder of what  "Get Messy Habit" is:
A group inside the "Get Messy" group.
As part of that group I have made a commitment to post at least one Art Journal page a week on a day I designate.
Friday is my day.

Quote along the side comes from a convo I had with @cayleegrey.
Caylee is one of the co-creators of @GetMessyArtJournal and, as I have dubbed her, "Our Fearless Leader".
(@LaurenLikesBlog is the other part of that equation).
I mentioned to Caylee that I was worried that my style of art was not "real art"... And she responded,

"Anything you make is real art".

It gave me reassurance and I included it on my latest page as a reminder to myself.

Supplies: yellow and blue chalk fluid, The Crafter's Workshop viewmaster template, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Kaisercraft acrylic stamps, black sharpie.

03/02/16 - Get Messy Week #4

If you've been reading my blog this week you know that I'm late w/ my Monday "Get Messy" post.

A reminder... those posts consists of my sharing my Art Journal pages inspired by the prior week's "Get Messy" prompts because every Monday a new set of prompts is provided.

I have been a busy bee this week as far as posting...
This after stating I would be posting only once a week: Dead Pool Valentines.... ( clickable link)
That always seems to happen... when I make a plan, the opposite occurs...

(I will NOT win the Lottery... Doesn't hurt to try right?! LOL)

So here are my pages:
I created 4 total, but I already shared 1 of them:  You Remind Me... (clickable link)

These 2 were inspired by the "Pixar - Inside Out" Prompt.
They were both fun to make and I love the colors but my favorite is the "Spirit Animal" one (left hand side).

Journaling:
(left) DISGUST is My SPIRIT ANIMAL -
"cuz that expression is the one I have on my face most of the time (especially at
work) and our thought process is almost identical.
Also, she just so happens to be voiced by one of my favorite actress/comedians
- Mindy Kaling- and is the ONLY REASON I watched "INSIDE OUT"
'Disgust is highly opinionated and extremely honest. She always has the best of
intentions  and refuses to lower her standards' ---> (as written by) Disney Wiki"

(right) Pixar's "Inside Out"-
"Meet the little voices inside your head" ("Inside Out" tagline)

The washi tape and buttons represent each emotion and in the order they fit into my personality.

This next page comes from a different prompt and a prompt from a previous week; Week 3.
We were encouraged to be inspired by the following quote:

"Take pleasure in the rich random patterns in your life" - Hector and the Search for Happiness.

Before I share the page I want to explain it...
For some strange reason when I was reading "patterns" my brain was thinking "routine".
IDK why... it just was... every time!
It wasn't until after I made my page that it dawned on me that the word was "patterns" and not "routine"... but by then it was too late.
No worries though because I still like the page and how the main element of it, the cartoon w/ the orange BG, truly represents my thoughts on "routine".
And technically the prompt was 'to be inspired by' the quote, not create a page based on it exactly!

As I stated the photo with the orange BG is how I feel about routine...
The Pinky and the Brain was just added because of the fact that they had the same "routine" every night which goes w/ my thought process at the time I was making my page.
And then I just added the quote in my own handwriting and a quick additional note about how I feel about routine:
"I have a -Love/Hate- relationship w/ routine"

There you have it.
Another week of Get Messy completed!
Wow 4 weeks already?!? That was quick!

02/28/16 - A Step-By-Step Art Journal Page Background

I'm not one to make a step-by-step post.
I don't think I do anything spectacular or difficult enough to require step-by-step instructions...
But...
Sometimes I'll look at other peoples projects and think "that looks great, but how did they do that?"
and it turns out to be super easy-peasy.
So I decided that I LOVE this page so much that I would include a step-by-step of how I created the background.

Journaling: "When I forget what Happy is... You remind me".
As a sufferer of depression sometimes I forget, but my husband always reminds me.
He is "my happy"
Inspired by @GetMessyArtJournal's
#SeasonOfHappy "

For those of you who thought it was easy-peasy even before I showed you the steps: "You were correct"!
For those of you who were wondering how to make this... "You're welcome"!

A couple of things I wanted to point out first:
1. I didn't spray directly in my art journal JIC I made a mistake.
I didn't want to ruin the art journal or, at the very least, have to rip out any of the pages so I
just cut a piece of computer paper to fit my journal, which is basically the same kind of paper my
journal is made of... nothing fancy, just a Target Dollar Spot Journal...

2. One of my craft supplies is NOT a craft supply at all.
The heart is the top cover of the inside of a small heart shaped box of Valentines chocolate I
received this past February 14th.  I went to eat one of the candies and the heart fell out and floated
to the ground and my first thought was that I could "totally use that for an art project"! LOL!

Okay here goes:
Step 1 - Gather all your supplies
(Left to Right):
Sunburst stencil
Heart "stencil"
Misting Spray - this one is Red Pepper from Maya Road
Paper cut-to-size
Black towel (so that any mist that doesn't wind up on the paper doesn't wind up on anything else!)

Step 2 - Layer
Black Towel
Paper cut-to-size
Heart  "stencil" (hard to see but it's there!)
Sunburst stencil

 Step 3 - Spray
As little or as much as you want...
This is my favorite part!

Step 4 and 5 - Let dry and Separate...
 to reveal your pretty design!
Look at the cool design on the heart too...
I may use that for something else later!

Step 6 - Adhere to your art journal
And, if your like me, add some doodling!

Like I said "EASY-PEASY"!!!
and fun too!
And now that you have this cute little BG dress it up any way you like!

BTW - this page was inspired by the "Get Messy - Season of Happy".
I will be sharing more tomorrow during my normal "Get Messy" Monday reveal.

02/26/15 - "Get Messy Habit" Week #4

It's Friday!
You know what that means!
(Or maybe you don't!)

It's time to share an art journal page I created this week in order to keep my commitment to my
Get Messy Habit.

A reminder of what that is:
A group inside the "Get Messy" group.
As part of that group I have made a commitment to post at least one Art Journal page a week on a day I designate.
Friday is my day.

Here goes!
This one is kind of  silly, but the story behind it not-so-much.

"I Gotta Have More Cow Bell"

I've been really down about my job lately.
It's no secret that I don't like it...but lately it's been getting worse.
I have this overwhelming feeling that I'm wasting my time doing something I simply don't care about.
I have no drive or motivation any longer.
I have absolutely ZERO passion for what I do and honestly I cannot imagine having to do this for another 25 years!
But the thing is I need my job.
My husband is self-employed which means we are never guaranteed his paycheck... although for as long as we've been together we've never had an issue...  and he has no benefits now or for the future.
So I work to have a steady income and to make sure we have insurance and for OUR FUTURE.
As much as I would love to just walk out of my workplace and NEVER look back... I can't.
This makes me sad and makes me feel stuck.

What does this have to do w/ my art journal page?
This...
I was thinking, "Since I can't leave, what do I need to make my time here more bearable?"
Unfortunately I didn't come up w/ anything useful...
But while thinking,  the quote "I gotta have more cowbell!" popped into my brain.
Hahahahaha!
My brain always wants to veer to "the silly".

I googled photos of cowbells and used them as reference to draw my own.
And of course added the quote that inspired my page.
I used sharpies, stencils, and free-hand drawing for this page.
At first it was just the "cowbell" and the quote but I felt like it needed a little something more so I added the red lines.

Excuse the wrinkles... my art journal is a cheap Target Dollar Spot notebook that I absolutely love, but it gets beat up sometimes, especially since I carry it around w/ me.
Someday I may upgrade but for now, it works for me!

In conclusion...
My job may not get better but it did inspire a page I had fun creating!
And for now, that will just have to do.

Finally,  in case you don't know where the quote comes from, watch this:

02/22/16 - Get Messy Week #3

Since Monday is the day that the new art/journal prompts go live over at "Get Messy", I like to share the pages I made from the prompt(s) that were given the week before.

We're always given 2 art prompts and 2 journal prompts.

I usually only have time to do 1 prompt (not 1 prompt each, just 1 prompt)...
And 1 page inspired by the "Season".
I wish I could do more but time just doesn't permit so I am just glad I can get something done!

Here are the pages I created last week...

This first one is based on a prompt:  "Use street art as inspiration..."
I can't give you the "whole" prompt, just a bit of it since the prompts are for members only, but at least you will get an idea of what I had to work with.

When I think of "street art" I think of the bright colorful spray painted walls of "taggers".
I realize that what we're seeing is considered graffiti, but I have to admit, a lot of it is actually really artistic! If only they would find someplace else to display their art!

To create my page I used different water color paints and a stamp that looked like dripping spray paint. I also found an "inspirational" looking/sounding word and stamped that above the dripping paint to look like the person sprayed the word and the paint just dripped down from it.
It's been years since I used water colors and I found it to be very fun and freeing!
I am definitely going to use them on future pages!

My second page was inspired by the "season".
A reminder... it's the "Season of Happy".
I saw this photo in the magazine at work (Yes, that SAME Magazine...LOL)
When I saw it I thought about how happy the woman looked and how her happy expression was contagious.
I Googled "happiness is contagious" quotes and found the one I wound up using on my page.

Journaling: "Be so Happy that when others look at you they become Happy too!"

Instagram link for both: Get Messy Week #3

I hope to eventually go back and do the other prompts.
I don't know how well I'll do since they provide 4 new prompts each week and I'm signed up for a year... but I'll try my best!

02/19/16 "Get Messy Habit" Week #3

Happy Friday!

"Yes", this is my second post in a week.
I know, I know... in my last blog post I said "once a week" but as I try to figure out what works for me in regards to posting on my blog and Instagram, I realized that I have a Friday Instagram commitment.
Since I will already be writing up a post for it, I decided I should share those posts here also.

I mentioned before that I am part of a group inside the "Get Messy" group called "Get Messy Habit".
As part of that group I have made a commitment to post at least one Art Journal page a week on a day I designate.
Friday is my day and here is my page:

"Your Love is Better Than Ice Cream"
"Today's #GetMessyHabit page includes a photo of delicious frozen treats
and song lyrics from Sarah McLachlan.
Supplies: Magazine photo, washi tape, (2) heart stickers, (1) "sweet" sticker, black sharpie, and adhesive.
02/19/16"

Many of the "Get Messy" peeps use magazine photos/type in their art journal pages.
I really enjoy the look of it!
I wanted to join in but I haven't had a subscription to a magazine in years!
Since you can find almost everything on the internet these days there has just been no need.
But now, after seeing the creative ways other artists are able to create w/ pages out of magazines, I'm thinking I may need to find a (cheap but good) magazine to subscribe to!

I happened upon the photo I used in my art journal page in the lunch room at my workplace.
I was flipping through a magazine (the ONLY magazine) and when my eyes saw the colorful and delicious looking ice creams I was immediately drawn in!
Then, the lyrics to Sarah McLachlan's "Ice Cream Song" ran through my head.
That's when I knew I needed the page (yes, NEEDED) and I ripped it out and took it w/ me.
That same night I created the "photo and embellishment" part of my page, and the next day I wrote the journaling.

It was a lot of fun!
So, as I said, I think I need to figure out what to do about getting my hands on more magazines!
(Any suggestions would be much appreciated!)
BTW - I just realized I said "magazines" A LOT in this post! LOL!

On a separate but related note...
I still feel like I'm finding my place in the community and how I want to organize and share my creations w/ my followers.

For the first week of "Get Messy Habit" I shared a random page I created: Week 1
The second week I shared 2 pages: 1 for a "Get Messy" prompt and 1 inspired by the "Get Messy" Season: Week 2
This week it is a random page.

I like the random pages being assigned to my "Get Messy Habit" postings and my "Get Messy" prompts and 'inspired-by' pages having their own postings.

So expect to see more, separately, on a more consistent basis.
I truly hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoy sharing them!

BTW - Sorry for changing things around so much... but technically I have a year to get it right! ::wink, wink::

02/16/16 - "DeadPool Valentines" and Week2 of Get Messy

A round-up of everything crafty I did this past week that does not have to do w/ Design Team commitments.
I'm thinking this may be the way I share my pages going forward...
We'll see...
#Need-To-Find-A-More-Efficient-Way
#Work-In-Progress
#These-Arent-Real-Hashtags
#LOL

Seriously though I don' have time to constantly be writing blog posts for every layout/art journal page I create but I still want to interact and share w/ my Bloggy Peeps so until I figure out something better (or maybe this IS the best way) I'm going to try to limit my blog posts to once week, besides my DT posts.

This may mean that my blog posts will be longer, but... if you comment you only have to comment once a week instead of every time I post, so this is a "win" for you, my follower, as well!

Sunday 02/07/16 - Sunday 02/14/16

Scrapbooking:
02/14/16
"Deadpool Valentines"
Journaling: "Valentine's 2016
David and I don't usually celebrate Valentines but this year we did w/ a
movie, "Deadpool", lunch at Kabuki Japanese Restaurant, and
limited edition Chocolate Molten Starbucks drinks"

Not a great photo since:
1. I couldn't scan it because of the bulky embellishments  (the black on the sides is not part of the layout)
2. I took a photo w/ my cell phone camera, in low light, because it's currently 9 PM...
But you get the idea!

For 2 January Challenges:
1. Hoarded items
Everything on here, except the BG paper and the 2 gold hearts, is a hoarded item at least 3 years or older
2. SB.com hosted challenge: February Color Challenge
All the colors from the color palette are represented on here, plus some

Art Journaling:

Monday is the day that the new art/journal prompts go live over at "Get Messy"...
We don't have to do them.
If we do, we don't have to do them all, or in order...in other words there are no rules; the prompts are just there to inspire.
These pages were created last week:
>The page on the left was inspired by a prompt.
>The page on the right was inspired by the Season - #SeasonofHappy
<------This IS a real Hashtag if you want to click on it...

 Journaling (Left):
"To Be Happy I Need These:
Family --------> Husband, Kids, & Furbabies
Hobbies --------> art journaling, scrapbooking, & reading
Coffee --------> Homemade and Starbucks
Sleep --------> nightly & naps
Fitness --------> calorie counting & steps
.Get Messy journal prompt Week2"

Journaling (right):
"Happy Un Birthday
Why can't our everyday be as happy as our birthdays are supposed to be?"

That's it for this week!
Thanks for stopping by!

My printer was having issues and I fixed it but during the interim I was not scrapping and lost my mojo ::le sigh:: But I've still been ...
