My last project for February 2018.
Also my last Project using my February 2018 Counterfeit Kit Challenge kit.
This makes a total of 18 projects for the month and 5 using my monthly kit!

If you recall I wanted to make at least 5 w/ my kit and I did it... yay!

I did cheat just slightly on this layout...
I was also creating this for another challenge and it required a doily...
I didn't have one in my kit so I added one, BUT....everything else is from my kit:

Journaling:
-Left hand side strip (referencing the B&W photo):

-Bottom strip, right-hand side (referencing the photo above it):
"Last photo: March 2016"

-Bottom strip, left-hand side (referencing the photo above it):

01/11/18 - "At 15"

#TBT
A layout I created in December 2017

.
.
.
(I actually wrote this blog post in December but forgot to post it)

My daughter will be 16 in January.
I very rarely can get a photo of her so since I was able to get this photo, and she is about to exit her 15th year, I decided to do a page about some of her likes and dislikes at this age.
The only reason I was able to get this photo is she wants to change her hair again and I told her I needed a photo of what it looks like right now to send to her hair dresser.
Hey, whatever works, right?!
.
.

Edited To Add -
She now has BRIGHT Blue Hair
and she saw this layout, sitting on my desk mid-design, and got upset that I used the photo so I'm not going to be able to use that trick anymore; ugh!

.
.

"At 15"

Journaling:
"At 15
Madison hates being called 'Madi', has blue-gray hair and a nose piercing, loves hard rock music, Batman, and pigs and wants to be a veterinarian when she 'grows up'.

01/02/18 - NYE 2017

Hi and Happy New Year!

I created this layout yesterday.
Not my first layout of 2018, but my first 12x12.
3 regular sized photos = 12x12...
since I am trying to be more deliberate as to what/why I choose to scrap on the larger size.

"NYE 2017"
Journaling:
"Hamlet spent NYE the way he spent most of 2017... cuddled in a blanket, sleeping.
After he went to bed, Spotty took over.
#SameBlanket
> Nothing Changes <
12.31.17"
.
.
.
Yes, the ringing in of 2018 was a wild one for us, LOL!
David and I were both awake when the ball dropped but we actually missed it because we were watching something else and we were going to switch over just in time to watch it but it turned out our living room clock was slow, DOH!
We heard fire works going off outside, and we we're like "what?! It's not even time yet?!" and we switched the channel over and saw that the ball had already dropped!
Oops, such a great start to the New Year, NOT!
Oh well...LOL
.
.
.
This layout was inspired by the following SB.com Jan, 2018 challenges:

>>Scrap Your Pet
*INCLUDES TWIST* of polka dots

>>Musical Inspiration
The song chosen for me was "New Years Day" by U2
I chose the line "Nothing Changes" and included it as part of my journaling.
*INCLUDES TWIST* of using new products

>>Last Photo(s) of 2017
These 3 are the last 3 photos of 2017.
The bottom photo of my dog, Spotty, is the actual last photo of 2017.
.
.
.
I hope your NYE went well and that 2018 is kind to you!
TFSB!

Most items used on this layout are Jillibean Soup w/ splashes of Studio Calico and Simple Stories
.
.
Also for the SB.com January Sticker Challenge:

-Alphas (7)
-Word/phrases (4)
-file label (behind "cozy")
*INCLUDES TWIST*

11/06/17 - MIM #99

Stopping by real quick-like to share the latest Make it Monday sketch from

MIM# 99

"This Is Awesome"

Journaling:
"Today 02 Nov 2017
I was featured on the Awesome Ladies Project IG Account.
It's a Thursday 3 Post; take a selfie and list 3 Right Now facts.
1. This is me: messy hair, messed up/non-existent make-up, wrinkled clothes, tired face…basically a “not-so-perfect” selfie… cuz life isn't always perfect and that's okay!
2. Wearing my favorite shirt! The only reason it's my favorite is because my “You Had Me At Pumpkin Spice” shirt can only be worn a couple months out of the year! LOL
3. I'm sooo Obsessed w/ Niall Horan's new cd, “Flicker”… buy it, buy it!"

You have until November 30th to submit your layout.

10/24/17 - "Bow Wow WOW..."

Happy Tuesday!
How have you all been?
It feels like, other than DT work, I haven't been here in a while.
I have been scrapping and posting my layouts on Instagram though.
I like posting there because I have more of an audience.
The only part I don't like, I feel like I need to limit my captions/descriptions.
Anyway, if you want to see my layouts on a more frequent basis check out my account:

On to today's layout:

"Bow Wow WOW What a Gentleman"
Journaling:
"Look at Spotty; such a gentleman w/ his paws crossed!
05.19.17"

IDK why but Spotty always seems to lay w/ his paws crossed and we find it funny and sweet so I had to document it.

This is layout #73 of my 75 layout goal for 2017...
Almost there!
It also is layout #4 created for the Music Challenge over at SB.com.
This is a monthly challenge and every month is the same concept:
There are 4 categories and they each have their own twist.
This is the first time ever, despite participating in this challenge for YEARS, that I was able to complete all 4 categories along w/ the twists!
So, YAY me!

This category was #4 - Song (chosen by the host).
The song was "I Want Candy" by the Bow Wow Wows and we could use any part of the song: title, lyrics, artist name.. on our layout,
I went w/ the artist name and I included the twist of purple w/ the buttons (the top one is dark purple so it may look black but they are both purple).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also Included in the following SB.com Challenges:

>In This Corner
- The BG paper already had the bow ties printed along the side

>Hoarders
Everything except the "WOW" Alpha stickers
*INCLUDES TWIST* of using hoarded stickers

>Stickers

-Alphas (23)
-Word/Phrase (4)

10/16/17 - MIM #98

Happy Monday to you!
Today I am sharing Make It Monday Sketch #98 from "The Memory Nest" blog.

MIM Sketch #98

"A Place For His Head"
Journaling:
"While watching "Wonder Woman" at our friends' house, their dog Zeus decided to lay his head on David and fall asleep."

(09.03.17 <<< Oops,  Need to add the date!)

Too cute, amirite?!
So of course I had to get a photo of it!

I love this layout and how quickly it came together! It was one of those that once I got the colors and PP selected, all the other pieces just kinda fell into place!

The title came from a SB.com Challenge; the Music Challenge.
One of the categories is to choose a song title and use it on your layout. I used "A Place For My Head by Linkin Park, but changed "My" to "His".
Also the twist was orange, which was perfect because I was planning on using orange anyway!

Well, that's all from me today!
Hope you'll join us and play along w/ this, or our October 2nd, sketch!
You have until October 31st to enter your layout.

10/04/17 - "My Brown Eyed Girl"

This layout makes me happy!
But it also makes me sad!

The happiness comes from that adorable face w/ the little cheesy smile!
Also that BG paper w/ the colorful flowers that just pop!

"My Brown Eyed Girl"

The sadness comes from the fact that little 4 year old is not 4 years old anymore; she is now 15!
And the fact that she is at a stage where she hates taking photos...and is not fond of much, in general!
Teenagers, ugh!  Actually, more specifically, Teenage GIRLS, ugh!
My son wasn't like that... ever!

Speaking of my son, who turned 22 in June...
he moved out last month.
So I am halfway to being an Empty Nester.
::SIGH::

Gosh why can't they just stay little?!
.

Today I bring you layout #55 of my 75 Layout Goal for 2017

2> National ___________ Day
Sept 22nd - National Elephant Appreciation Day
Though they were fake, there were elephants in the show.
I know it sounds weird, "fake elephants", but they way they did it... it was a work of art and they seemed really real. My eyes actually watered at one point during the show when the baby elephant got his feelings hurt... LOL

We were not allowed to take photos while the show was in progress so I wasn't able to get a photo of the cute "fake elephants" but here is a photo from the internet:

Come to think of it, I guess I could have a printed a photo from the internet to include in my layout, duh...LOL
Hmmmm.... maybe there will be a page dedicated to "the Elephants of 1903" in my scrappy future!

08/23/17 - "The 4th 2017"

Hi!
It's just me, trying to keep up w/ my commitment to myself to share some of my completed layouts.
Hope all is well!

"The 4th 2017"

Journaling:
"Fourth of July in our neighborhood means sparkly fireworks both on the ground and in the sky; yes the illegal kind, what do you expect in San Bdno?! Note: the illegal ones are not ours! Also the only day a year I can wear my 4th of July Snoopy T-shirt"

Most items are from one of the 4 kits from the July "The ScrapRoom" kit (see bottom left):

Two Fun Facts about this page:
1) Fourth of July photos are rare as I hardly ever, like mostly never, take photos on the Fourth now that the kids are pretty much grown; I didn't take a whole lot of photos when they were younger either though...because there's only so many photos of kids watching fireworks or playing w/ sparklers you can take before it's becomes "old"
2) Of the photos I did take, and created layouts for, I hardly ever used a traditional Red, White, and Blue color combo
I broke both those rules here... and I'm actually happy about it!

08/21/17 - "Ice Cream Thief"

Hello, and Happy Monday!
I have been neglecting my blog lately, though I have been scrapping quite a bit!

Sometimes I want to share my layouts but don't have the time or energy to do much more than that...
So I just don't post at all.
That's a bad habit to fall into so I am going to try my best to post my layouts even if I don't add much commentary along w/ them.

To get things started, here is the most recent layout I created:

"Ice Cream Thief"

Journaling:
"I really enjoyed this Orange Day Dream ice cream from Walmart and as you can see I'm not the only one! Panini would not leave me alone while I ate it! And, yes, I shared; I'm "that kind" of pet owner. 5.27.17"

07/24/17 - "(It's Your) Birthday Suit"

Another Monday, another layout...
I hope that's a phrase I can utter often because that would mean I got to scrap over the weekend...
which makes me very happy!

(It's Your) Birthday Suit

FYI - It WASN'T his birthday I was just using "It's Your Birthday (Suit)" to be funny!

Journaling:
"That moment when you go from looking like "Sonic the Hedgehog" to a "Naked Mole Rat", LOL!
Top photo was on 3.25.16 when Hamlet had a full body of thick hair. Bottom photo was on 7.16.16 after he lost it all, which is actually referred to as "Blowing Their Coat" in the Piggy World"

This layout was mainly inspired by the July SB.com Challenge I am Hosting:
"National ___________ Day"
I was specifically inspired by July 14th - National Nude Day

I created this layout this past weekend and I love it...
so of course I'm sharing it...
(#35 of my 75 Layout Goal for 2017)

"In The Middle"

Journaling:
"David sent me these photos while I was at work: 1. to make me jealous and 2. to say 'Don't know how I fit but I was in the middle, LOL!' - July 14th, 17"

The journaling pretty much explains the entire story behind this layout.

07/06/17 - July "Round Robin" Challenge

 The  Scrapbook.com "Round Robin Challenge":

"There are teams of 4 people, one person for each week, similar to a relay race. The person assigned for week 1 in each group will start their team off with a layout depending on what the specs and twist will be. Then the following week, everyone assigned to week 2 will lift off their week 1 team member and so on. It's fun to see how a lift progresses from the first week to the fourth."

On this edition of "Round Robin" I was player #1 and we were assigned a "Mood Board" for our inspiration:

Though I know Mood Board Challenges are popular, I've never actually played along w/ them.
I was a little nervous, especially since I was the first one on my team.
I was mainly nervous because I tend to take challenges like this way to literal...which is why I never play along on my own.

But eventually I had to tell myself to stop over thinking it and just focus on what stood out to me and this is what I came up w/:

"Ginger Spice"

Journaling:
"Joseph wanted to lighten his dark hair; over the years it went from blonde to dark brown. He used a blonde boxed dye and I warned him it would lighten but not be blonde. This is what happened. He loves it! I love it and I jokingly call him Ginger Spice though he prefers Peter Pan. 6.18.17"

Can you figure out what I was inspired by?
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
I was inspired by the photo of the girl showing off her hair (style) and the photo of the wedding invitation in the shape of a large hexagon: thus I chose to scrap my son's (new) hair (color) and use hexagons as a design element.

Though it's a simple layout I actually really like it!
I guess I can handle mood boards after all...
Tell me, have you ever played along w/ a mood board?

Good Monday Morning to you!
Today I am sharing w/ you the latest sketch from the "The Memory Nest" blog:

NERD!

JOURNALING:  "The definition of nerd!

> the title right under the photo
> the "box" on the left of the photo (that I used for my journaling)
> the overall design of the sketch w/ it's  scattered items

It was a fun, fast, easy sketch to use!
I hope you have as much fun w/ it!

Good Morning (afternoon/evening...whenever)!

02/15/17 - "Sit Still, Look Pretty"

Hey there! Hi there!
How are you all?!

I'm doing okay...
I've been a bit stressed out lately but I'm trying my best to take it in stride.
Life...is ...stressful, amirite?!

Anyway I am here today to share this layout:

"Sit Still Look Pretty"

Just a couple of cute photos of our cat Panini.
I created this the same day I created "Netflix Cat"... I guess I was just in the mood to scrap our kitty?!

Some things I wanted to point out about this layout:

>> Title was for a Challenge over at SB.com; the "February Music" Challenge
This is for Category #2 - Song Title
I chose "Sit Still, Look Pretty" by Daya
Aren't the photos perfect (or should I say purrrrr-fect?!) for that title!!!
*INCLUDES TWIST* of using red.

>> The BG, and overall design, was inspired by the SB.com Round Robin Challenge.
Here was the starting inspiration and the layout that proceeded mine; I was #2 on my team:

Inspiration:                                                         Week #1:

I wanted to keep w/ the striped BG but was too lazy to create it so I went w/ an already printed PP as my BG even though none of the stripes were lopsided as per the sketch.
*INCLUDES TWIST* of using flowers.

>> I cut the photo on the left into a circle because
 - 1) it came out darker than I expected when it was printed
 - 2) I had included way too much of the BG scenery in the photo
Both rookie mistakes! UGH! LOL!
So to make the photo stand out a little better I cut it into a circle that would cause an extreme close-up of our precious kitty and mounted it to a large Project Life Card to give it more "strength".

>> The BG paper and the PP used for the circle and bottom strip of paper is the other side of the BG paper and the PP I used for 2 of the circles on"Netflix Cat".
W/ most Scrapbook Paper packs you get doubles of each sheet so that you can use both sides.
IDK about you but I sometimes have trouble trying to decide what side of a double sided paper to use so when I can use both, I try really hard too!

Here are the papers I used:

The only thing I am a bit unhappy w/ is on this layout since I used the "non-kitty" themed side, I feel like the layout doesn't feel very "pet-like",  KWIM?
That obviously is not the case w/ the other layout!

Finally...
>> Other than the big red heart, which is directly printed on the Project Life Card, the entire row of embellishments at the bottom are stickers I've had in my stash for many, many, many years!
Glad to finally have a good use for them!

Hope you're having and continue to have a good week!
TFSB!

02/13/17 - MIM Sketch #82

Happy Monday and Happy Holiday...if you get today off of work like I do! ::fist pump::
Today is Lincoln's Birthday... I think...
Don't really care, LOL
It's also Monday, specifically "Make It Monday"!
The new sketch is up at the "The Memory Nest" blog.

Here it is for your viewing pleasure:

"MIM #82"

"Netflix Cat"
Journaling (Main): "Trying to watch Netflix but someone won't let me!
Guess I'll just watch the walls instead... 2.11.17"
(Sub): "At least now I can see!"

I don't have a problem using just one photo on a layout, in fact I frequently do so, but I do enjoy it when I can use more than one, especially when the sketch I'm using only calls for one photo, AND when I can still keep the integrity of the original sketch.
As you can see despite the use of 3 additional photos I still followed the sketch pretty closely!

All the PPs on here are cat-themed patterned.
I specifically chose the red PP because Netflix's logo color is red.
BTW - that Red PP and the "cat tag" have both been in my stash since June 2014.

Part of the journaling, "...'watch the walls instead..." is part of a lyric from a song.
It was included in order to complete a challenge I'm in over at SB.com; the "Musical Inspiration" challenge.
The song chosen for me was: "Friday, I'm in Love" by the Cure.
*THE TWIST* was to not use the word 'love' on our layout.
I met the twist which I thought would be impossible to do!

That's all from me today!
Hope you enjoy your Monday and that you have a chance to join us in the challenge; you have until February 28th.

01/30/17 - Why Do You Blog?

Good Morning!

I've been thinking a lot about my blog... about the point of it.
I do enjoy posting my layouts and telling my stories, about the layout and otherwise, but feel like I am mostly talking to myself...
(No offense to those who actually read and comment on my blog.)
Which is fine for the most part...
But I do already do that on SB.com; basically sharing the same layouts and stories I share here.
The only real reason to have a blog would be because having a Blog is part of the criteria of being on a Design Team.
BTW - I share my Design Team creations on SB.com also.

So I'm debating cutting down on my blog posts to only posts that are Design Team related.
I'm not sure though...

Other than those that have an actual business, I wonder why others blog?
I would love to know your reasons.

In the meantime, because I don't like posts w/ no photos, here is a layout I created this past Weekend:

"1st Cell @14"
Journaling:
"You've wanted a cell phone since Jr High but we thought you were too young. But now you're
older, and about to enter High School so we decided it was time... July 24th, 2016"

(6 months before her 15th birthday)

For the following SB.com January Challenges:

>Musical Inspiration Challenge
The song that was chosen for me was "Safe Inside"
I used the lyric "now you're older" in my journaling.
*INCLUDES TWIST* of using a new tool or item: the "hello" banner is new, came in my most recent Scrapbook Circle kit.

>Sticker Challenge
28 Stickers
-Alphas (17)  -Stars (2)

-"LOL" (3)

03/27/23 Planning with Urban Journal Season Ink

My printer was having issues and I fixed it but during the interim I was not scrapping and lost my mojo ::le sigh:: But I've still been ...
