12/19/18 - Project Life Weeks 38 - 42

Before I started mixing it up again I had left off on PL Week 37.
I mentioned I would jump back in time to share previous week's layouts...
so let's keep on going!

Week 38:

When I took a couple of the photos, I purposely left space for me to add journaling spots to add some handwritten journaling.
And though I didn't realize it at the time of it's creation, that "enjoy" circle mimics the Pistachio Oreo really well.
BTW - I want to express just how much I LOVED those Oreos!
I was pleasantly surprised at how well they nailed the Pistachio flavor...
If you do not like Pistachio, avoid these!

Week 39:
This one was tough to scan because of the bulkiness of some of the stickers... the colors are not 100%  true to life.
For example: the "MON" chipboard sticker is a darker cornflower blue, the pig's body is the same color as his face, and the cookie photo is brighter (the pain of bulky scans!)
Moving on...
As the journaling says, this week was short on "everyday-style" photos due to us taking a vacation.
But if we can scrap "1 photo" traditional layouts, why not 1 (or 2) photos on a Pocket Page/PL
Layout, right?

I have already shared week 40: PL Week 40
And as I went to scrap Week 41 - I realized I had only taken 2 photos that week and I that had already scrapped and shared them as a regular layout:
So I just added a tab to the side that says Wk 41 so those paying attention while flipping through my project life album won't think I skipped it:

(remember this layout?)

Finally Week 42:

A mismatch of subjects...but then aren't all PL pages pretty much that way?
Notably: Our first visit to Oak Glen for the 2018 Autumn Season,  David and I saw the original Halloween for the first time, finished book #20 (of my 25 book goal), and won and received a prize from Elle's Studio.

-Speaking of Elle's Studio... there's lots of Elle's Studio (and Studio Calico) goodies on these pages! -

Can't believe I've made it this far!
Only 10-ish weeks to go!

11/12/18 - "Use Your Stuff" Challenge #337

Good Morning!
Welcome to a new week and new challenge of "Use Your Stuff" .
This week we challenge you to use stars.

I created a layout of our Mini Pig Hamlet sleeping, using a star patterned BG.
This layout was very difficult to take a good photo of because of
the shiny gold stars.
"Dream Big"

Here is a photo of the layout at a different angle so you can see how absolutely gorgeous that BG paper is … Mega Heart Eyes, amirite?!

Hamlet is a black pig, well all black except for 1 white hoof … the front hoof on the right side (not pictured).
Because he is black, it's really difficult to get a good photo of him without great lighting, and in this case, it was night time so the lighting was at it's worse...that's why he looks brown.
I love this photo so much and I knew, even if the lighting wasn't the best I needed to scrap it, and I needed to scrap it by itself and in a large size; this is a 6x8 that I ordered through the PL App.
Pretty sure I'm not fitting ALL of 2018 into one album... but I'll deal w/ that problem when I get to it, LOL

Also, I used 99% of my November Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Kit to create this.
Yes, I strayed a bit. I couldn't help myself! When I found that BG paper I just HAD to use it, it was too perfect for the photo! So I used it, but EVERYTHING else is from my kit so I'm counting it!
I know for a fact the CKC Blog is a bit flexible w/ their challenge so it will be just fine; the goal is to get your stuff used and photos scrapped, and I did both!
This makes Project #3 w/ my November Kit.

BTW - poor Hamlet always seems to be scrapped in pink... Oops, LOL

Thanks for stopping by and please play along w/ us at "Use Your Stuff"!

10/18/18 - Project Life Week 30

On Monday I shared PL Page #32
Today I am sharing w/ you my Project Life Week #30
It is actually a 2 pager
-One Pocket Page Style (though digital)
-and One Traditional Layout

Project Life Week 30

I created this layout in the Project Life App and embellished it just slightly:
-2 stickers
-2 buttons
-Doodling (though the white circles around my Oreos was done on the app)
Though I love embellishing my digital pages w/ real-life embellishments, I didn't feel like this one needed too much.

Oh, and yes, it's ALL about food, LOL
And as I explained in my journaling (in the "Enjoy Life" section)... I'm only slightly embarrassed about it ::wink::

Also, if you read the journaling about my pancakes, you'll see that I mentioned "my traumatic morning".
What was so traumatic?
Well, the answer to that is in my 2nd page which completes my 2 page spread:

"Hamlet's First Hoof and Tusk Trimming"

I created the journaling block in the Project Life App and printed it out on regular paper.
I misjudged the size a bit … with all my experience, why didn't I realize how big a 4x6 would be, hahaha?!
But it's all good... I like the way the large Gray and White journaling block help balances out the "No, No, No Nope" Studio Calico Project Life card.

And, I just noticed...  without even planning it, the 2 pages actually match each other pretty well!

That's all from me today...
TFSB!

09/15/18 - CKC September / Projects #3 & #4 and Use Your Stuff

I have already shared 2 layouts made from my September 2018 Counterfeit Kit (as inspired by the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog)...
and I am happy to share... 2 more!
I created these this past week.
Both are Traditional 12x12 Layouts:

"Saved"
Journaling: "Starbucks almost ruined my Fall when they got rid of their "light" menu; no PSL for me...until this:
-Grande - Blonde Americano
- 2 Pumps Pumpkin Sauce
- Splash of Almond Milk
and -1 Sweet - N- Low

A substitute recipe suggested by my co-worker. Just as tasty and saved me 145 calories and $1.40
-YAY- "

I didn't name my counterfeit kit "You Had Me at Pumpkin Spice"; for nothing, LOL

Back Story: Starbucks got rid of their ready-made light recipe line of drinks, both hot and cold …
so I thought it would be no Pumpkin Spice Lattes or Pumpkin Spice Frappuccinos for me this year, since I ONLY drink light... but then my co-worker shared how she orders her drink and "saved Fall" for me!
See, I'm not good at recipes in any shape or form (LOL) so I really thought I was going to have to do w/out! I'm so glad that's not the case...though I still need to figure out a Frappuccino alternative.

...

This second layout was also created from my Counterfeit Kit and is Pet Themed so I am entering it in the current challenge over at the "Use Your Stuff" Blog since their challenge this week is Animals!
As an animal lover and fur-mama, the challenge was right up my alley!

"Trying"
Journaling: "Trying to organize my scrap book albums...trying ::eye roll:: "

Our cat Panini decided to plant herself on one of my albums while I was organizing...
cuz Cats Are Jerks, LOL

- The Title Alphas are actually Gold -

I really, really, REALLY, love this layout!
I think a lot of it has to do w/ brown being my favorite color...
Of course the cute subject doesn't hurt! :0)

Thanks for stopping by!
Hope you're having a great weekend so far!

09/13/18 - Another PL Catch-Up Post (Weeks 25 - 29)

Hi...
Project Bomb!

Just sharing some more Project Life Pages

- Week 25

.
.

- I shared week 26 in a previous post:

.
.

- Week 27

-Remember I told you I intermingle PL w/ Regular Layouts?

My  previously shared "July 4th"  and "Chunky Dunk" layouts are also part of this week:

.
.

- I shared week 28 in a previous post:

This week includes a few Vegas Layouts also, 2 of which I have created and previously shared and 2 that I have not yet created:

.
.

Week 29

Sorry if this is too much but I thought you might like to see how it is going to look in my album w/ the mixture of different types of layouts!
If you haven't already figured out the LARGE photos are of layouts I'm sharing for the first time and the SMALL photos are of layouts I have already shared previously.

I am enjoying this PL journey... but I am behind, both in creating and sharing.
Not giving up on either though!
I think a lot of my PL Pages will be digital since it's something I can do on my phone an it allows me to include lots of journaling which is something I struggle w/ on traditional layouts.
I also like the cleaner look of them.
I spruce them up w/ stamping (sometimes) and stickers & doodling (all the time) so I'm still getting in some hands-on creativity and it gives the layouts a more personal feel.

BTW - Pretty sure all the future generations are going to think all I did was eat, LMAO!

08/18/18 - CKC August / Challenge #2

Hello!

Welcome to my blog post and the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog's 2nd (and Last challenge) for the month of August.
Today's challenge, to (hopefully) inspire you use up that August kit, is:

Mix and Match Journaling or Title. We have them in our stash -alphabet stickers, word stickers, stamps, dies, and even punches.  Use at least two different alphabet styles for your title or journaling.

This is actually something I do frequently because I'm always trying to stretch my alphas when they are getting to the end. Mixing them up not only gets them used, but it sometimes results in some interesting combos!

For this layout I mixed the alphas in my title:

"Real Men Wear Pink"
Journaling:
"The chicks are gonna dig him!
Stylish amirite?! Pink was $120 dollars less than blue.
(Sorry, Spotty) Good thing dogs are colorblind!
07.13.18"

For those who do not normally read my blog, here's some back-story (via a previous, not-for-this-challenge layout I created):

Journaling:
"4.12.18 - National Pet Day. Also the day we found out Spotty has Spinal Arthritis. His back legs no longer work and it's irreversible. All we can do is try our best to keep him comfortable and give him meds to help w/ his pain. It makes me sad."
Yes, it's sad that our fur-baby is going through this but we are trying our best to make him as happy as possible while he is still with us.

Back to my layout for this challenge...

I'm very happy w/ it!
Not only is everything from my Counterfeit kit, but I have used up yet another Wood Embellishment (remember I said I'm not a huge fan of wood embellishments?)!
I also like that I was able to incorporate lots of pink on the layout due to the color of my dog's wheel chair. Normally I wouldn't think to use so much pink because my dog is a boy, but the topic of this layout made it A-Okay-USA! (though technically there aren't any rules... but you know what I mean!)

I hope you'll play along!

08/12/18 - CKC August / Challenge #1

Hey there, hi there!
Happy Snout Sunday!
"Happy Snout Sunday?" you're asking...
Well, when you see what I'm sharing today it will make more sense...

Popping in to share the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog's current challenge to help you use your August Counterfeit Kit.

This is challenge #1 for the month and it is called:

Put it on an angle Use your favorite layout style and turn it a little bit to put it on an angle on your layout.

One of my go-to scrappy items is circles... big and small!
On this layout I used a big circle to anchor my photos of our mini-pig Hamlet enjoying his rooting rug.
And small circles to add pops of color and interest!
(We pig owners frequently use "Snout Sunday" as a hashtag on Instagram. Makes sense now, right?)

"Rooting Rug Fun"

Journaling: "Hamlet enjoying his Batman rooting rug. Thanks to my daughter, his momma, it's all Batman all the time for Hamlet. 09.11.17"

Naturally I went for Black and Yellow as my main colors, cuz... Batman!
But I quickly found I didn't have a whole lot of other Black and Yellow embellishments, DOH!
So I got creative, AKA took a chance, and added red and white (leftovers from my "Espana" Travelers Notebook spread; see previous post) and some blue and green and you know what? I absolutely LOVE the look!
I wasn't kidding when I said the Counterfeit Challenge really makes you think outside the box!
I would have never added those colors if I had my whole arsenal of scrappy supplies to choose from and yet... they really work so well on the layout!
Seriously LOVE this layout!

That Rooting Rug has since gone to pasture but the photos and memories will forever be captured!

BTW that little flag that's sticking out of the "Good Times" embellishment block was actually cut off of one of my embellishments, which means I still have the rest of it to use.
Talk about making your supplies stretch, amirite?!
And that "makes me happy" stamp is from my food stamp set... how lucky did I get, LOL!

Anyway, I really hope you like this layout and are inspired to play along.
In case I'm not inspiring enough, go check out the CKC Blog for more Design Team inspiration!

TIA!

05/31/18 - "Capture" and More About my PL Journey

Not all my Project Life Pages are "Pocket Pages"
or even "Digital Pocket Pages";
some of them are Traditional Pages.

When I first started Project Life I was having trouble deciding how I wanted to do it but just dove in thinking I would (hopefully) find my rhythm as I went...
It took a bit longer than I thought it would, and mistakes... (LOTS of mistakes!) but I think I'm finally about there (but don't quote me on that)!
One thing I did learn early on is that I needed to mix it up..
mixing it up would keep me from getting bored and hopefully encourage me to
ACTUALLY FINISH A PROJECT!
As the self-professed "Queen of Unfinished Projects" this is a big deal to me,
which is where the Traditional Pages come in.

Here is a recent layout I created that, just by looking at it, by itself, would not seem like a Project Life layout...
and it's not, not in the way people think of Project Life.

But I'm making it a "Project Life" layout because it's chronologically inserted in the album right before/during/after the correct week the date of the layout falls into.

"Capture: Man's Best Friend"

Let me show you what I mean.
If you flip through my album this is what you'll see:

"Capture: Man's Best Friend" - 04/09/18

--------------------------------------------------

"Life is Ruff Ruff" - 04/12/18
(PREVIOUSLY SHARED)

*the 2 traditional layouts are back-to-back *

-------------------------------------------------------

"Week 15 (04/08/18 - 04/14/18)"
(PREVOUSLY SHARED)

---------------------------------------------------------

"Week 16 (04/15/18 - 04/21/18)"
(PREVOUSLY SHARED)

As you can see the 2 Traditional Layouts would fall into the Project Life Week #15, the Pocket Page that comes directly after them in the album.
Doing it this way keeps everything fairly chronological while still allowing me room for extra photos that didn't fit into the pocket page and/or that I want to showcase separately, and allowing me to be a little more creative.
I never want to stop doing Traditional Pages, but I do like having a mix of other types in my albums; hence the Pocket Pages, Digital Pages, and Travelers Notebook pages.

When I started Project Life I binged watched You Tube Project Life Process videos.
I discovered that the overall idea of Project Life is the same, but there are so many different ways to do it; it's not so "by the book".
And one particular channel I watch, when I commented that I love Project Life but it seems like it's going to be a lot of work, the artist had given me the advice to "keep it simple in whatever way that means to you".
In other words there are no rules, much like general Scrapbooking.

05/23/18 - PL Week 17

12x12
Digital Project Life Pages
done through the Project Life App

Did I mention I was doing Project Life?
If not, know you know! :0)
...
As I navigate this journey of my first year of Project Life I have found some things about it I don't like:

1) it can be time consuming, which means it's easy to fall behind
(And as you know I do not have a lot of free time these days!)

2) I have difficulty with the journaling aspect of it.
Seems like there is a lack of journaling space when telling all the different stories of all the different photos of the week.

That's where the PL App comes in handy:
1) can do it on my phone, any time, any where.
+ I don't have to worry about having my supplies on hand

2) W/ their new feature of "Freeform Text" I can journal directly on my photos!
I know what you're probably thinking... it doesn't allow me to use my own handwriting.
And I agree w/ the importance of using my own handwriting, but... I have used my own handwriting on PLENTY of other layouts, in fact it's my main way of journaling, so I think it's okay if there are a few layouts/projects I don't use it on.

BTW - another testament to it's quickness and convenience... I finished these but still have Week's #15 and #16, which I'm doing in Traditional Format, sitting unfinished on my scrappy table, LOL

It will never completely replace traditional but, I like that it helps me catch up/keep going and I like the look of digital mixed in w/ traditional.

Week 17 -PG 1

 Week 17 -PG 2

I just realized other than 1 Random Pocket Page,
I have not shared any of my PL pages here...
though I have done so on Instagram.

You know what that means...
Expect some TBT  (Throw Back Thursday) posts!

Just a heads up as I get more used the Project Life, I can tell you right now some of my older pages I'm not as happy with...
But it's a learning process!
::shrugs::

05/21/18 - Weekend Craftiness

Hi there, hey there!
As I mentioned in my last post I haven't had a lot of time to scrap.
And just recently I realized feel like some of what I have done this year was done in haste which takes the fun out of it, and has me looking back on those layouts w/ a bit of  a "meh" feeling... like I could have done so much better.

It has me thinking back to my OLW(s) -
Less/More

I'm doing "More" but loving it "Less", and I need it to be the other way around.
So I made a vow to myself that I will make time for scrapping but if I absolutely have no time that I will accept it and wait instead of half-assing my spreads.
Oh, and  I may even go back and tweak those I've done a bit to make myself feel better about them.

I still have more than half-a-year to put that practice in place so here's to looking forward to a "fresh-start"!

.
.
.
.
.
.
I did make some time for scrapping this weekend and I enjoyed the process and the results very much!
Despite one of the layouts being about a not-so-happy subject:

"Hello Beautiful"
2 page
Travelers Notebook Spread
For my Food Themed Midori Travelers Notebook

Journaling:
"South of the Border Guacamole Charburger from The Habit Hamburger Grill
Fresh, seasoned Charburger topped with a crisp tostada shell, guacamole, pico de gallo, melted cheese, and ancho chile lime crema. Served on a toasted bun with crisp, shredded lettuce, tomato and pickles"

 "Life's Ruff Ruff"
Traditional
12x12 layout

Journaling:
"4.12.18 - National Pet Day. Also the day we found out Spotty has Spinal Arthritis. His back legs no longer work and it's irreversible. All we can do is try our best to keep him comfortable and give him meds to help w/ his pain. It makes me sad."

02/09/18- February CKC Layouts #1 and #2

Helloooooo!
In case you were wondering... Yes, I have been creating w/ my February counterfeit kit inspired by the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog.
So far I have created 2 layouts.
I would like to create at least 4 to match last months CKC project number...so I'm half-way there!
A 5th project (at the very least) would make me extra happy!
It's still early enough in the month that I think I can do it!

For now let's look at projects #1 and #2.

First here's a reminder of my kit:

Project #1. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

 5x8 Travelers Journal/Jot Journal Page
For my BOM (Book of Me)
"Enjoy Beer"

Journaling:
"I've never been a fan of beer but lately I've been enjoying it and drinking it more regularly. My favorites are any flavor by Redds, Angry Orchard, and some of the various sour varieties.
27 Jan 2018"

Project #2. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

2-Page Midori Travelers Notebook Spread
(each page is 4.5 x 8.5)
For my Pet Album
"Nap Pals"

Besides using my kit in general, I am happy to say I used 3 of the scraps I included in the kit.

I had fun making both layouts but working w/ limited amounts of items is DEFINITELY a challenge!
Every so often I  would think that I had an item that would "look perfect on this page" and want to go and grab it and then remember...NOPE! LOL!

But it's okay because I am very happy w/ both layouts!
And I hope I will have more to share very soon!

01/02/18 - NYE 2017

Hi and Happy New Year!

I created this layout yesterday.
Not my first layout of 2018, but my first 12x12.
3 regular sized photos = 12x12...
since I am trying to be more deliberate as to what/why I choose to scrap on the larger size.

"NYE 2017"
Journaling:
"Hamlet spent NYE the way he spent most of 2017... cuddled in a blanket, sleeping.
After he went to bed, Spotty took over.
#SameBlanket
> Nothing Changes <
12.31.17"
.
.
.
Yes, the ringing in of 2018 was a wild one for us, LOL!
David and I were both awake when the ball dropped but we actually missed it because we were watching something else and we were going to switch over just in time to watch it but it turned out our living room clock was slow, DOH!
We heard fire works going off outside, and we we're like "what?! It's not even time yet?!" and we switched the channel over and saw that the ball had already dropped!
Oops, such a great start to the New Year, NOT!
Oh well...LOL
.
.
.
This layout was inspired by the following SB.com Jan, 2018 challenges:

>>Musical Inspiration
The song chosen for me was "New Years Day" by U2
I chose the line "Nothing Changes" and included it as part of my journaling.
*INCLUDES TWIST* of using new products

>>Last Photo(s) of 2017
These 3 are the last 3 photos of 2017.
The bottom photo of my dog, Spotty, is the actual last photo of 2017.
.
.
.
I hope your NYE went well and that 2018 is kind to you!

11/15/17 - "Daydream"

Layout #85 of my 75 Layout goal!
Yup... I achieved, and surpassed, my goal!

"Daydream"

Journaling:
"Got this guy up at 10, fed him breakfast and now, at 10:30...look at him! #LazyPig 07.01.17"

Midori Travelers Notebook Spread
My first spread in my new Midori Travelers Notebook.
I love the spread and I love my Midori!
It is so much better than the other No-Name Travelers Notebooks I bought... It's also more expensive which proves the saying "You get what you pay for"!
Wish I had bought more of these when they were on sale!
Size = 21cm×11cm  (approximately 8.5 x 4.5 for each single page).
Amazon Link: Midori #14 - Blank Kraft

My Travelers Notebook "story":
Yes, I've finally gotten into the Travelers Notebook craze and ... I LOVE IT!
Though it took me a while even after I bought my first set.
I bought my first set of TNs in July 2017 and didn't start using them until October.
Their small size intimidated me... I've only really worked on a 12x12 sized BG for most of my nearly 20 year Scrapbooking "career".
But I have found so much more freedom w/ the smaller size because I don't need to fill up so much space!
Sometimes I would feel guilty using a 12x12 for just 1 photo... weird, I know.
Plus the actual album is a lot smaller than a 12x12 album and THAT will also take up much less space.
I find the smaller size gives me the freedom to feel okay in scrapping photos and items I might not have felt comfortable w/ before...cuz, again- the guilt, and it allows me to scrap them faster.
Less fuss!
Plus it's a great way to use up scraps; the 2 pieces of PP and the white paper the title is on are all from my scrap bin!

Besides this layout I am currently working on a Fall Themed album.
This was inspired by my (scrappy) friend - Linda!
Hi, Linda! Thank you! ((Kisses))
I will post more about that, including photos of some of my layouts in a future blog post.
If your curious though...
I've already posted some on my IG Account: Mrs_David_Vasquez

BUT I haven't given up 12x12 sized layouts... I just have another option now.

This year seems to be the year of trying new things for me:
-Pocket Pages
bought some stuff including a 6 month subscription to a pocket page kit - more to come on that
-Digital Project Life
-Travelers Notebooks...
I am even starting to dabble in mixed media but I have a lot of practice before I can share..
Misting is about all I can handle right now - barely, LOL!
I'm enjoying trying new scrappy techniques; my creative hunger really needed me to branch out!

I even have a standard Composition notebook that I have started adding bits and pieces of my life to, including just regular ole' lists and doodles, with plans to add some informal layouts...
This was inspired by Amy Tangerine whose You Tube videos I have been binge-watching!!
You Tube Channel link: Amy Tangerine
Oh, that's another thing, I used to hate watching videos but watching scrap-process videos is also a new (addiction/thing) for me!

I'm SUPER excited to have different places to put my creative energy!

11/13/17 - MIM Sketch #100

Happy Monday!
Today's post is bittersweet because today I'm sharing with you Make It Monday sketch #100!
100 is quite a milestone...
But, it also is the last sketch from The Memory Nest...at least for a while.
The Memory Nest is taking a break.
It's sad but needed.
I will miss Leslie and her sketches, but hopefully it won't be for too long.

Here it is MIM sketch #100:

"Find Someone Who Loves You As Much As Panini Luvs This Pillow"
Journaling:
"Panini loves our new living room pillow!
It's a Body Pillow so she's using it correctly...
$11.99 at Costco.
Top photos taken: 09/28/17
Bottom taken: 09/29/17"

The top 2 photos I took.  The bottom photo David took, the next day, and sent it to me at work.
Panini really loves that pillow! I don't blame her, it is really comfortable.
We bought 2 of them; the second one is in our room.

I had a lot of fun using my Project Life and Simple Stories cards on this.
I've had them for a few years now.
I'm trying to use my stuff more. I'm always afraid to "use up" my stuff... but why buy it just to have it stay in in the packaging? That's not what it's for!
Also I realized theres always more "stuff" I want to buy so might as well make room,  right?
LOL

You have until November 30th to play along with Sketch #99 and #100.

09/05/17 - "Quiet Time w/ Grampy"

Hello!
How was your weekend?
I had a nice 3-day weekend and I only work 3 days this week so I'm not feeling too bad on this Monday-Tuesday!

Today I am sharing a layout created w/ a "selfie" my husband took of him and Hamlet (and then sent to me at work...punk! LOL)

"Quiet Time w/ Grampy"

Photo of Hamlet and my husband, AKA Hamlet's "Grampy" taken approximately 2 years ago.
I just love the look on Hamlets face...his eye has an actual 'twinkle' in it! ::swoon::

How this layout came to be:

Inspired by a challenge w/in a challenge over at SB.com.
The Anything Goes Challenge, Weekly Challenge #1 -

Step 1
WHAT COLOR IS YOUR MIND?
https://www.blogthings.com/whatcolorisyourmindqu iz/
Take the quiz (it’s very short).
This will be your color palette for your project.

Step 2
COLOR PSYCHOLOGY
Using the color from step one, select one of the emotions in that color in the chart below as your project "theme."

Step 3
Create a MONOCHROME project using your mental color and emotional theme. ~ Monochrome is a single color project, but you can use shades, tints, and variations in hue. Patterned papers are allowed as long as the pattern does not detract from the overall feel of the layout being a single color. For example: a purple paper with tiny yellow stripes would be acceptable as a purple monochrome, while a purple paper with big red flowers would not.

Purple was my color and I chose "quiet" from the list of "purple" words.

I was very disappointed to wind up w/ the color purple as purple is my least favorite color ever!
But a challenge is a challenge, right?!
So I searched and dug out as much purple as I could and came up w/ a layout I actually really love...despite all it's "purpleness"!
But w/ a photo like that how could I not love it! ::swoon again::

Also I was inspired by this layout which I lifted:

All-in-all a very fun challenge!

Thanks for stopping by!
I'll be back later in the week!

08/07/17 - MIM #93

"Make It Monday" Sketch #93
The first sketch for August from the "The Memory Nest" Blog:

As for my layout...
I did use shapes but in a slightly different way.
Also the arrow and "flair", in my case a button, are there:

 "This Little Piggy"

Journaling:
"I frequently get asked "How big is Hamlet?" and since he's difficult to measure, I never really have a good answer.
Well, maybe this will help...I'm 5'1
5.11.17"
.
.
.
.
And a PSA, remember: He IS a Mini-Pig. Despite what people think and what most breeders, AKA bad & unethical breeders, would like you to believe they will not stay as little as they are when they're born.
Mini-Pig simply means they will not/should not grow as big as a farm pig, which can reach up to 600+ pounds. "Micro" and "Tea Cup" pigs do not exist. Those are terms breeders use so they can charge lots of money when selling their pigs. Unfortunately people fall for this and when the pig gets too big it gets abandoned. 😢
Do your research before getting any kind of animal, especially a pig!

07/10/17 - "In The Middle"

I created this layout this past weekend and I love it...
so of course I'm sharing it...
(#35 of my 75 Layout Goal for 2017)

"In The Middle"

Journaling:
"David sent me these photos while I was at work: 1. to make me jealous and 2. to say 'Don't know how I fit but I was in the middle, LOL!' - July 14th, 17"

The journaling pretty much explains the entire story behind this layout.

06/19/17 - "National Puppy Day"

Hi!
Just another layout from me today; my mojo has been in over drive and I'm trying my best to use it while I have it!

"National Puppy Day"

Journaling:
"Spotty may not be a puppy anymore but he is still our baby!
3/23/17"

IDK how old Spotty is, but he's definitely not a puppy!
We inherited him when Madison was around 3 years old; she's now 15!

He is the sweetest dog!

Speaking of "sweet"... see that "sweet" in the photo of Spotty and my husband?  It's not a sticker, it's part of our "Home Sweet Home" sign in our living room that just happened to be in the photo when I took it; what a "sweet" coincidence!

06/03/17 - "Chosen One"

I just recently joined the Monthly Kit Club from The ScrapRoom and though I have not yet received my first kit, I have been browsing their website and blog and discovered they have a sketch challenge each month.
I liked their June Sketch so decided to play and it was very inspiring!

I used their sketch w/ a few small modifications, one being that I turned it on it's side:

SKETCH

"Chosen One"

I got a kick out of the cartoon when I saw it on Instagram; it's so true! And a few days after seeing it, Panini just happened to jump on my lap for "some love" and I knew I had to take a photo of her and use it along w/ the cartoon on a layout!

This layout came together pretty quick thanks mainly to the sketch!  I also liked that I was able to use up a lot of old product.
Everything on here is a hoarded item and/or scrap, except for 2 things: the BG paper and the "adore" sticker I wrote the date on.
