10/02/13 - CPC: Barbies

Hey there!
Just wanted to let you know there is a new challenge up at "Child's Play Challenges"!
This week's inspiration is Barbie!!!

I love Barbies! Not only were they one of my favorite toys to play w/ when I was a little girl, but I collected them way into my adult years! I don't collect them anymore because I don't really have any place to display them, but I still have what I did collect in boxes in my attic in their original unopened packages.
Maybe someday I will dig them out and see if they are worth anything!

My daughter plays w/ Barbies too!
But her really love is "Monster High" dolls, so I decided to scrap those instead.

 "Monster High"
Journaling: "Barbie was the popular doll when I was a child. For Madison
it is "Monster High" dolls. 2013"

Madison has a lot of them!
In fact some of them, I believe 4 of them,  aren't even in the picture because they came out of the second series of dolls. Madison was adamant that we only include the dolls from the first series in the picture! I laugh because that is something I would do as well! (Sometimes she is so much like me it's scary!  LOL!) She is also is the one who set them up to get their picture taken. The idea of hanging the "ghost" doll from the ceiling was all hers!

Madison doesn't actually play w/ them so much anymore; they're more like a collection. I stopped buying them though because once I was done completing one series for her, more came out! It got to the point I couldn't keep up! Plus at about $20 a doll, it was getting expensive. I think I'll just leave the rest for others to buy her for either Christmas or her birthday. And when she gets to the point she doesn't want them anymore, I'm going to keep them!

I used up a lot of scraps on here: the 2 black, the pink, the white, and the shaped paper at the bottom are all scraps. Also, a little tidbit, the title and Monster High embellie were printed off of the internet. I simple googled "Monster High Images" and found what would work on my layout and printed and cut them out.
Have I ever mentioned how much I love the internet?!?!?
Well, I do!

Okie, dokie!
You know what comes next:  I invite you to come play along w/ us!
You have until October 31st to get your entry in!

  1. Very cute! Yes, I loved Barbies...I was collecting Holiday Barbies (I have stopped), but I love to display them every Christmas :D

I bought my daughter tons of Barbie (and Barbie-like dolls), but she wasn't as into them as I was...we have the complete Spice Girls collection though ha ha ha And now they are all packed up in the garage because I wasn't going to give them all away.

I just bought my niece a couple of Monster High dolls...new generation. I like how your daughter hung the ghost doll--very creative! :)

  2. I just learned about Monster High at the birthday party of one of Trevor's classmates last year. I'd never even heard of them, but now that I know about them, they are EVERYWHERE! Fun page and I like how you used the images you found online.

  5. How cool! :) I only had ONE Barbie growing up - my sister ruined it for me. She had a ton of them but wouldn't take care of them ... my parents would always find heads or arms or something, so I got 'punished' for her bad deeds. When I was in my 20s, I saw a series of Marilyn Monroe Barbies that I wanted soooo badly, but couldn't really afford. I put them on layaway at Walmart, LMAO!!! They were displayed in my first house (in the boxes, they've never been out of the box) in my movie/MM room. Now they're in the attic, carefully wrapped in bubblewrap. I keep saying I need to get them down and put them in my sb room! :)

    1. I have a Marilyn Monroe barbie too! That one I will never get rid of. Also I will never get rid of my Barbie dressed up as the "Flying Ace" complete w/ Snoopy stuffed animal, and my Barbie from Spain since I am from Spain myself! BTW - Layway at Wal-Mart... so old school! LOL!
