01/29/14 - "The Griswolds..."

It's Wednesday!!!
Okay, normally Wednesday's don't make me that happy, but today is actually my Friday since I won't be in the office tomorrow, or the next day, or the next...or the next!
Yup, a 4-day weekend; taking some time off.

Today I share my latest layout.
It's for the "Memory Nest" Make It Monday Challenge.

The challenge was to use this sketch:

And here is my take on it:

"The Griswolds (Got Nothin' on us)"
Journaling: "David added roof lights this year"

Of course I know "The Griswolds" still have us beat, LOL, but I wanted to document the year David decided to add lights to our roof to go along w/ all the other outside Christmas decorations we already had. And since we always joke that one day our house will look like "The Griswold" house, I figured it would be funny to reference on this layout.

I really didn't care for the BG paper which has "Merry Christmas" written all over it in different languages. At least I think that's what it says! I also didn't care for the other side. But I didn't want to waste it so I figured if  covered it up enough it would work.
And it did!
In fact it worked very well as the black BG w/ hints of color throughout mimic the pictures.
As always, love when things work out like that!

P.S. - Hope you know who "The Griswolds" are or my layout won't make any sense!
 LOL!

01/26/14 - "Mississippi Mud Pie"

 Happy Sunday!
Today my family and I will be in Oak Glen per my daughter's Birthday request.
She loves going to Oak Glen to have apple pie and hot chocolate!

Speaking of delicious treats, the layout I am sharing today includes a picture of some yummy goodness:

 "Mississippi Mud Pie"
Journaling: "Mississippi Mud Pie - Shared by David, Madi and me. Mother's Day 2011"

My layout was inspired by the following Challenges:

I liked the triangles so much I just kept piling them on, LOL!
But instead of spreading them across the page I used them to make a side border.

- and by -

"Twisted Tuesdays"
The challenge is  to use "washi tape, fabric tape, etc... and use something that starts w/ a T or a A or a P or a E"
I used turquoise & white chevron washi tape and the triangles = T

2 more great challenges = 1 more layout for me!
Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!

01/21/14 - Guest Designer @ ARTastic

Apparently January was my month to be Guest Designer!
Besides "Scrap Our Stash", which I have already mentioned/shared twice, I am also the Guest Designer over at the "ARTastic" blog!!

As is described on the blog:
"ARTastic is a challenge blog with a difference. We find inspiration in works of art."

Here is this month's Inspiration Piece:

Please stop by the blog to see how it inspired me!
Thank you!

01/18/14 - "Tree Decorating"

Another day, another challenge.
My Friday off was a success! Not only did I get everything done I needed to do, I also had fun in my scraproom and created 2 layouts.
I shared one yesterday, (here), and I am sharing the other today:

"Tree Decorating"

This one was inspired by:
 this sketch from "Creative Scrappers"

and
by the current Fabulous Friday Challenge at "Frosted Designs"
which is to use polka dots.

The layout didn't come together as easily as I would have liked.
In fact there were a couple of moments when I wanted to trash it! But I kept going and in the end it came out even better than I thought. Good thing because I hate spending lots of time on a layout and then having to throw it out and start all over.
I'm sure you know that feeling!
Here's hoping you don't have that feeling anytime soon!
TFSB!
xoxo

01/17/14 - "Hello Handsome"

Happy Friday!
I haven't been scrapping too much lately.
Instead I've been spending my time in other fun ways...mainly trying to spend as much time as possible w/ my hubby.
For a while there we were starting to lose touch with each other... I guess after 14 years together it happens. But that's not something that we wanted to continue so we have made a concentrated effort to enjoy each other more! And we have and we are!
:0)

So it should come as no surprise to you that out of the 4 layouts I've created so far this year, 2 of them feature my husband! I've already shared the first one on a previous blog post
and I am here today to share the latest one:

"Hello Handsome"
Journaling"David. Survivor Run. 9/21/13"

My husband did not pose for these pictures...well the 3rd one he kinda did.
They were just random shots I took of him.  I told him to let me take pictures of him and as is his usual way, he said "No", so I said "Okay, then I will just take some and if you don't like them, too bad!!"  LOL. Well, I did just that and I really like the way they turned out! When I looked at the pictures I kept thinking, how lucky I was and that my husband really is a handsome guy, and that's where the title comes from.

I'd like to thank the following blogs for providing me inspiration for my layout:

I used their latest sketch (flipped):

and
Their latest challenge calls for: 3 different manufacturers and an arrow.
I used the following:
1) Carta Bella - the turquoise PP
2) Doodlebug Design Inc - the BG paper
3) Glitz - the arrow, "hello handsome" and "so handsome" stickers

Okay that's all from me today!
I'm off to do some more scrapping.
Hope you are having a great Friday!

Speaking of lions and firsts...I watched my first Jean-ClaudeVan Damme movie...EVER!
(you'll understand the segue in a bit...)
David is a huge fan of Van Damme; has been since childhood! I, on the other hand, have never seen any of his movies. Something about "fighting" movies just doesn't appeal to me.   If you didn't know, Van Damme is working on a comeback and this has caused David a renewed interest in his movies. This  interest caused David to look thru our movie collection and he realized he didn't own any Van Damme movies!
Amazon to the rescue!
To make a long story short,  when one of the movies arrived David asked if I wanted to watch it.
In the spirit of trying new things, I said "sure!" and so we watched it. BTW - David was very surprised by my answer.
I was surprised too! Surprised that I actually liked the movie!
The title of the movie? "Lionheart".

See? I told you the segue would make sense!
LOL
Next on my list: "Bloodsport"

Okay that's my lists of firsts for January, well actually for the year!
It was fun listing them!
Perhaps I will make a list like this again...

01/07/14 - "Stick It Down": Single Page Team 1 - January Sketch

Hey there!
Today is the first official reveal date for "Stick It Down", Whoot-whoot!
And as a member of "Single Page Layout Team 1" it is also my day to share a layout!

"Love This Man"
Journaling: "David thinks 'selfies' are silly and took these as a goof.
I'm glad he did because I think he looks adorable! Sept 2013"

My husband reads my blog from time to time, but I hope he never sees this post!
He will kill me if he sees I posted these pictures! LOL!
The good thing is nobody he knows reads my blog so even if he is embarrassed, it's not like he's ever going to come across anybody who has seen these!

David-
if you are reading this, I'm sorry, but gosh darn it, you are so amazingly handsome and cute I just could not resist!! Love you! xoXOxoXOxo

I used my new "Dapper Dan" kit from Glitz Design.
Love how masculine yet fun it is!
And it was a steal, I paid $1.12 for the kit over at SB.com.
Here is what it includes:
12 double sided 12" x 12" papers, one 12" x 12" sheet of coordinating alphabet stickers and one
12" x 12" sheet of coordinating cardstock stickers.
Yes, only $1.12 for ALL of that!
I thought it was a typo and wondered what I would actually get when I received my order...but it was all there; not a typo!
Awesome!

I hope you like the sketch and that you will come join us over at Stick It Down!
Even if you don't join us in the challenge, please stop by and check out all the other wonderful layouts!

01/02/13 - SIWAS: "I Gotta Feeling"

Hello!
My second post for 2014!
This post was supposed to go up yesterday but I don't like having 2 posts in one day so I delayed it.

Today I am sharing w/ you a layout I created for the first challenge of 2014 for "Scrap It W/ A Song".
The song choice is "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas.

The song was chosen by ME and I think it's a great song to start of the New Year!
If you aren't familiar w/ "Scrap It W/ A Song" please stop by the blog.
If you are familiar, please stop by anyway as we have made some changes to the way we will be running things in 2014.  Positive changes!
The changes will explain why I was responsible for choosing the song for this week's challenge.

Okay, onto my layout...

"A Good Night"

I was inspired to scrap these collages of pictures of my friends, my husband, and me at a party in April of 2013.
That night WAS "a good night"!

I hope you will join us!

01/01/14 - CPC: Monopoly

Happy New Year! Welcome to 2014!
I am super excited to start this new year and to share w/ you the first challenge for the year over at "Child's Play Challenges".
The inspiration is Monopoly:

Here's what I came up w/:

"Snoopy Monopoly"
Journaling: "As a fan of Snoopy of course I would have a Peanuts
version of Monopoly."

I never really liked playing Monopoly because I never win, LOL!
Also it's generally a long boring game! However, playing this Peanuts version that my husband bought me makes even the longest round of this game a lot more fun!
Not only did I scrap pictures of an actual Monopoly game but I carried over the arrow and "blocks" from the gameboard.
And yes that is Christmas PP I used, but the colors totally work!

I hope you will join us!!

03/27/23 Planning with Urban Journal Season Ink

My printer was having issues and I fixed it but during the interim I was not scrapping and lost my mojo ::le sigh:: But I've still been ...
