08/23/13 - SIWAS: "...Country Road"

Hey there!
Just wanted to  let you know that "Scrap It With a Song" has a new challenge up!
The song pick this week is:
"Take Me Home Country Road" by John Denver

Had a lot of trouble w/ this one as I was taking the title and lyrics of the song to literal.
Finally I stopped and just tried to think what did the song make me think of? Finally the answer came: the outdoors!
Once that was decided I came up w/ this:

 "Front Yard View"
Picture dates: 8/24/12 & 5/28/12

No journaling on this one. Just a couple of pictures that I took in our front yard that I really like!
The first picture is my doggie, Ivanna, my daughter, Madison, and her kitty, Panini, just hanging out on our lawn.  The second is of Ivanna and me hanging out on our porch.  Both pictures where taken from the point of view that you can see the street in front of our house, so that helps tie in the song a little: street = road.

The BG paper is one I would normally shy away from because it is a "scenery" page. But I decided to just have fun w/ it! Besides adding a 6x6 piece of patterned paper to anchor my pictures I just added a few nature embellies to liven up the page. The nature stickers all came from an Echo Park sticker sheet I have had in my stash for about a year and never touched. It is so cute but I think I was just too afraid to use it! Funny how that happens...LOL!

Make sure you stop by and see what the other DT members created and hopefully you will be inspired to share something w/ us!
You have until August 31, 2013.
Hope to see you there!

08/22/13 - SIT Sketch #121 - "Bike For Two"

Hi Friends!

There is a new sketch up today at "Sketches W/ Thyme"!
A two-pager since it is the last sketch of the month.

Here is the sketch:

#121

and here is my one-page version of it.

 "Bike For Two"
Journaling: "4/14/13 After getting new bikes for the family the kids took
one more ride on an old one"

I had to change it a bit to fit one extra picture in it since I was only doing a one-page layout.
I didn't change it too much and in the end I love the way it came out.  Part of what I love about it is it is a simple layout but w/ enough "extras" to still make it look cute! And I just love the way layouts w/ small pictures look!

Hope you're inspired!
Now come show us what you can do!
You have until August 31, 2013.

08/21/13 - CPC: Dot-to-Dots

Well, hello there!
Long time no blog!
I've just been taking a little break; enjoying other fun hobbies!
But I'm back and w/ a vengeance ( I have 3 days worth of blog posts coming up)!

Today's post is to alert you to the new challenge over at "Child's Play Challenges".
The inspiration this week: Dot-to-Dot

I loved dot-to-dots when I was a little girl and my daughter, who is 11, has and still does! In fact she recently asked me to buy her some more, although she wants the ones w/ lots of dots to make it more challenging! Oh, I guess like the ones in the inspiration pic! LOL! "Over 1, 400 dots"?? Wow! I will have to look out for those!

Okay on to my layout.

"1st Visit - Sugar Factory Restaurant"
Journaling: (circle sticker) "7/15/13 - Vegas, 12th wedding anniversary."
(square journaling spot): "A delicious, filling lunch accompanied by an
alcoholic version of a root beer float = Good Times!"

As you may know I love the Sugar Factory store, but I have never eaten at the Sugar Factory restaurant. So for our 12th anniversary we decided to have lunch there.  It was pricey but oh so good!
The food was delicious and the portions so big! And the drinks they have to offer are so fun and original! We went for a root beer float since I pretty much like anything w/ alcohol in it (LOL) and my hubby, who doesn't drink, loves root beer floats; it was our way of compromising.  Not sure if you can tell but it has those "root beer bottle" candies floating in it.  All the alcoholic beverages have some kind of candy thrown in! Like I said, "fun"! We decided we would definitely go back! And coming from my hubby who is very picky, that is a major compliment to the restaurant!!

Okay so if you haven't noticed the pieces that I included from the inspiration photo: the circles on my patterned paper mimic the "dots" and I numbered my pictures to show what order they were taken in.

Also, I was inspired by this sketch from Scrapbook.com:

Okay enough about me!
Let me see what you can do!
Stop by the CPC blog and share your inspired creation! There is a price up for grabs!
You have until August 31, 2013.

08/08/13 SIT Sketch #119 - "Last Day of 5th Grade"

Hiya!!
The new sketch is up at "Sketches in Thyme"!

Today we have sketch #119:

And here is my layout:

"Last Day of 5th Grade"
Journaling: "Madison and her BFF, Emily, on the last day of 5th grade"

This layout came together really quick! For the most part I followed the sketch... the only differences is on mine is I used 2 pics and instead of the circle I used a square. I kept the matting of the pics simple, Black on White, because the BG paper is was so busy!  I'm actually not too big a fan of the BG paper but I used it because it was in an old "Elementary School" paper pad I have had for years and I am still trying to get rid of my stash! Also this would be one of the last times I could use "Elementary" school paper, ::sniff, sniff::. I threw in some stickers and washi tape for added embellishment but for the most part I didn't put too many extras because, again, the BG paper is so busy! I DO like that the BG paper says "Last Day of School" and "Friends" on it... helps me feel I made the right choice!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to stop by SIT and share your take on the sketch!

08/08/13 - SIWAS: "Fantastic Voyage"

Hi there!
Just stopping by to let you know the new challenge is up over at "Scrap It With a Song".
The current challenge is "Fantastic Voyage" by David Bowie.

The title would have made it easy to do a travel page, but I went in a whole different direction w/ this one! The lyrics "Remember it's true, loyalty is valuable" inspired me to scrap the receipt of my Gold Rewards Card from Starbucks.

"Rewards"
Journaling:"I go to Starbucks way too much; at least once a week! So when I read about their
"Loyalty Program" I decided to join. Might as well get something out of all my visits! After
5 visits you're at Green Level which gets you some rewards (free drink on your birthday).
But after 30 visits, Gold Level, you get a gold card with your name on it and
even more rewards! I got my gold card on 6/17/2013"

Here is a close-up of the picture which incudes the "congrats" letter from Starbucks:

If you didn't read it, Starbucks calls the points we earn "stars" so the "superstah" and star embellies worked perfectly (you'll see below the other reason I included "stars" on my layout)!

I'm also entering this layout into the following challenges:

> "My Scraps and More" Sketch #40:

> "Scrapbook.com":  August Music Challenge
> "Scrapbook.com": August Hoarders Challenge

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to stop by the SIWAS blog to share your layout w/ us!

My printer was having issues and I fixed it but during the interim I was not scrapping and lost my mojo ::le sigh:: But I've still been ...
