02/01/14 - SIWAS: "Little Things"

Happy 1st day of February!

Today a new challenge is up at "Scrap It w/ a Song" .
Song is "Little Things" by One Direction.
A band my daughter loves but for some reason I just can't get into, which is a surprise since I love boy bands!

Here are the lyrics: Little Things

I used the title of the song as the title for my layout.

"Little Things"
Journaling: "My new cat top bought at Target for $12.99. Cute and inexpensive but totally
makes me smile! Sometimes it really is the... (Little Things)"

Excuse the picture of me...I was make-up free and just came home from an intense morning which I will be discussing at a later time.
After these pictures I took a long nap! LOL!

I used this sketch from "Let's Get Sketchy" to help me w/ my layout

You have until the end of February to play along w/ our song challenge.
Hope you will join us!

01/02/13 - SIWAS: "I Gotta Feeling"

Hello!
My second post for 2014!
This post was supposed to go up yesterday but I don't like having 2 posts in one day so I delayed it.

Today I am sharing w/ you a layout I created for the first challenge of 2014 for "Scrap It W/ A Song".
The song choice is "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas.

The song was chosen by ME and I think it's a great song to start of the New Year!
If you aren't familiar w/ "Scrap It W/ A Song" please stop by the blog.
If you are familiar, please stop by anyway as we have made some changes to the way we will be running things in 2014.  Positive changes!
The changes will explain why I was responsible for choosing the song for this week's challenge.

Okay, onto my layout...

"A Good Night"

I was inspired to scrap these collages of pictures of my friends, my husband, and me at a party in April of 2013.
That night WAS "a good night"!

I hope you will join us!

12/26/13 -SIWAS: "Happy Xmas"

Good After-Christmas-Day to you!
Not sure how many blog visitors I'll get today, but if you are reading this, I am sharing my layout for the latest challenge over at "Scrap It W/ a Song".
The challenge song = "Happy Xmas" by John Lennon
Here are the lyrics.

"Our 1st Gingerbread House"
Journaling: "Since I love Snoopy and there were 4 individual houses we went w/ this cute
set we found at Knotts. We had a lot of fun making them despite the fact that all but David's fell apart.
The worse was Joseph's which we dubbed 'Murder Scene' - 2012."

I have to admit I was a little lazy w/ this one. With the holidays so close and so much prepping needing to be done, I didn't really have a lot of time to scrap so I didn't really pay attention to the lyrics of the song but instead went simple and just focused on the fact that the song mentioned Christmas. I scrapped pics of my family's first time ever attempt at building a gingerbread house last year.

The layout itself is very simple as well. As I said I didn't have a lot of time, but what I lack in difficulty I think I more than make up w/ in bling! :0)
I love my sprinkles of self-adhesive bling! Plus used up more stash!

As for Christmas 2013?
It was a success!
Lots of family, friends, and fun! But hard to believe another one has come and gone!

Hope yours was wonderful as well!

12/17/13 - SIWAS: "All I Want For Christmas"

Hello!
Since last Thursday I have been busy taking care of my sick husband.
Poor guy.
He has had some kind of bug that has had him down and out and I have been spending most of my free time taking care of him, trying to make him comfortable, and keeping him company. The fact that he let me take care of him is a great indicator of just how sick he was since he is not the type of man to allow a woman to "wait" on him.
But I have been and I am glad to do it.
Obviously I would prefer him not to be sick, but I have enjoyed my time taking care of him because it is such a rare occurence for him to allow me to do so.

Today he went back to work and he did okay; he actually made it through the day!
Thank goodness!

While I was taking care of him I didn't have much free time.
I haven't scrapped.
I even missed a Design Team deadline.
I felt bad about it but I did alert my team to it in advance.
Today I was able to scrap, and although it's late, since I hate to not complete an assignment, I created the layout.

The layout is for the latest challenge over at "Scrap It W/ a Song".
The song is "All I Want For Christmas" by Mariah Carey.

"Just What I Wanted"
Journaling: "12.8.12 Madison writes her letter to Santa"

I was inspired by the lyrics "All I Want For Christmas..." and decided to scrap pictures of my daughter writing her letter to Santa Claus telling him all that SHE wants for Christmas.

I was also inspired by the following blogs:

"My Scraps and More" - Sketch #59

Although I missed the deadline to enter...

I am on vacation until 12/26/13 so I can get ready for Christmas.
I am really looking forward to Christmas this year!! :0)
First time in a very long time, well actually... since I can remember!

Although I have a couple of more posts that I will be putting up before the year is over, I wanted to share w/ you that I made my goal of 120 layouts for the year!! Yay me!
In fact, the layout I just shared is #121!

Some other great news, I recently won 2 blog challenges: "Artful Delight and "ARTastic" and will be getting goodies in the mail from them and I was chosen as a favorite over at "Twisted Tuesdays". I found out kinda late because due to my having been pre-occupied, I have been behind on my blog reading.  Some day I will actually put the badges on my sidebar!

11/28/13 - "Where Have the Times Gone?"

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
(When I first planned this blog post I didn't even realize it was Thanksgiving!
I had to go back and revise the post before I published it.)
I'm not big on holidays so even though we will be having turkey and all the fixings today, to me it's really just Thursday.
I'll probably be scrapping today after eating and napping! LOL!
Actually I plan on cleaning up my scrap room; it is a mess!
But a good mess because I have really been scrapping away lately! I'm up to 114 layouts for the year; only 6 away from my goal! Yay me!!!

Okay, for the real reason I'm here:
Today there is a new challenge up at "Scrap It With a Song".
The challenge song is "Payphone" by Maroon 5:

Here's my layout:

"Where Have the Times Gone?"

I chose a lyric from the song, "Where have the times gone?", and used it as the title for my layout. These are pictures of my son in 1996, at approximately 7-10 months, and now, in 2013, at 18. I used a digi from our sponsor, KennyK, to help embellish my layout; this time I colored it.
If you're wondering why I used yellow for his hair, my son was a blonde when he was younger, not so much anymore, but I just wanted to stick to his original color, plus I like the little bit of extra color it adds.

This layout includes 4 of my latest obsessions: washi tape, hexagons, misting, and office labels.
Not sure why I'm into the office labels, but they're working for me right now...
I've used them 6 layouts in the last month.

I remember having a hard time w/ misting, and being scared of washi but now they are 2 of my favorite things to use! And the hexagons, well I as I mentioned in another post, I bought the punch but was intimidated by it, but once I finally used it, I loved it!
I wonder what my next obsession will be?

How about you? What's your latest obsession?
Leave me a comment letting me know...or better yet, use those items to create a project for one or more of the SIWAS challenges!
You have until November 30th to enter.

11/14/13 - SIWAS: "Friends"

Hi!
The latest challenge is up over at "Scrap It With a Song".
The song chosen to challenge you this week, and for the whole month of November along w/ other songs, is "Friends" by Aura Dione.

"Best Friends Forever"
Journaling: "I realize it sounds cliche but David and I really are best friends. We
totally get each other and genuinely enjoy each other's company. There's no
one else I would rather spend time with. 10/22/13"

I was inspired by the title and theme of the song. My best friend is my husband, David, so I created a layout capturing that.

We are being sponsored by KennyK digitals this month.
The image of the couple sharing a milkshake is one of theirs.
Once you print the digital you can color it in anyway you want w/ whatever you choose.
I left mine mostly black & white, coloring it with a little bit of pink to match my top and the flowery accents on the layout. I kept the colors to a minimum  because I felt coloring it too much would be distracting and take away from the overall layout. I balanced the pink and mostly black & white image w/ the title BG.

The prize for this month's winner is an image from KennyK.
Good Luck!

10/24/13 - SIWAS: "The Nightmare Before Christmas"

Hello there!
Over at "Scrap it w/ a Song" we are doing something a bit different: instead of inspiring you w/ a song we are inspiring you w/ movie art!

Here is the inspiration picture:

nightmare-before-christmas-715x1024

Love this movie!
And the picture really inspired me!

I was inspired by the Halloween theme, the black BG, the orange-yellow-purple color scheme, the large circle, and the word "Nightmare".
Here's what I ended up w/:

"The  Stuff of Nightmares"
Journaling: "Madi and I posing w/ one of the two new additions to our Halloween
decorations. 9.17.13"

FYI - except for the BG paper and the white label sticker...everything on here is from an old Halloween paper stack I bought about 7 years ago. Not sure if you've noticed but I have been using it here and there on a lot of my recent layouts. I have been trying really hard to use it up! I'm doing very well, but not sure if I will be able to use it all up this year.
I'm actually having a lot of fun w/ it!

I hope you will have fun w/ this challenge!
Please don't forget to share  w/ us what you come up w/!
Remember you have until October 31st to submit your inspired project for this or any of the other October challenges!

10/17/13 - SIWAS: "Thriller"

Good Thursday morning to you!
"Scrap It W/ A Song" has a new challenge up today.
The song to inspire you is "Thriller" by Michael Jackson.

I was inspired by the lyrics: "You see a sight that almost stops your heart".
It reminded me of the time I walked into Madison's room and found her lying down with her head hanging over the bed, her long hair flowing down. The sight of her like that totally scared me and I felt like I was going to have a heart attack!
I know your probably wondering why that particular sight would cause so much fear in me...
I agree that without further explanation there would seem to be no reason why I would almost "pee my pants" at that sight! LOL!
But I'm sure once you read the journaling you'll understand...

 "A Scary Sight"
Journaling: "Thanks to movies like "The Ring" and "The Grudge", the unexpected sight
of long, dark hair freaks me out! I walked into Madi's room and found her like this. I swear I almost
had a heart attack! Of course Madison thought it was funny and started hamming it up!
October 16th, 2009"

Yup!
I'm a big chicken when it comes to horror movies!
I try not to watch them too often, but because David loves them so much, and I love spending time with him, I watch a lot more then I should, considering my fear!
To be fair, I don't always "watch them" as much as I hide my face behind a pillow or my hands and take peeks here and there! LOL! But, what I do watch, can sometimes really freak me out! "The Ring" and "The Grudge" and their long, dark haired characters have forever been engraved into my mind as super scary!!! I was so glad when Madi decided she wanted her hair short because too many times I have been scared by her long, dark hair...especially since she loves to wear it so it covers her face! ::shudder::

This layout is full of old supplies.
Only the BG paper and the letters are new, meaning they are less than a year old.
Everything else ranges from 2 years to 7 years old!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Make sure you stop by SIWAS to share your inspired project!
Remember you have until October 31st to complete a project for this challenge and/or any of the other October challenges!

10/03/13 - SIWAS: Album Cover Inspiration

Hello there!
Over at "Scrap it w/ a Song" we are doing something a bit different: instead of inspiring you w/ a song we are inspiring you w/ album art!

Here is the inspiration picture:

262

And what I came up w/:

 "Happy Halloween"
Journaling: "There were 5 clowns in our yard. 3 were real 2 were
fake. Can you tell which was which?"

A couple of pictures of last Halloween. David had built two clown mannequins to add to the fun! He set them up in the yard so that when he, Madison, and Joseph, were standing around in their clown costumes it would appear to be a yard full of clowns!! BTW - if you think this is scary, wait until you see this years set-up! ;0)

I used an old sketch from "My Scraps and More" :

Also, I had fun pulling out a lot of old product to use on here! Everything on here is approximately 7 years old except for the yellow and white washi tape, which is approximately 3 years old, and the  black BG which is approximately 1 year old.

Hope you have a chance to stop by and share w/ us what you were inspired to create!
Remember you have until October 31st to complete this or any of our October challenges!

09/19/13 - SIWAS: "Summer of '69"

Hi!
There is a new challenge up over at "Scrap It With a Song".
Song this week = "Summer of '69" by Bryan Adams.

I used the title of the song, w/ a bit of a twist, as my layout title. Also I was inspired to scrap a summer event.

 "July 4th Summer of 2013"
Journaling: "Besides the fireworks Madison's favorite part of Fourth of July is the
smoke bombs. She likes the weird way they smell and the way they shoot out
different colors of smoke. When she holds them in her hand she looks like she is
casting spells"

I love creating layouts but some layouts are just so much more fun to make! That was the case w/ this one!  I had fun using some old "fireworks" stencils I found in my stash that I have had for a couple of years but have never used before.  Part of the fun of the stencil is I got to color on my layout w/ markers; it's been a long time since I've done that! Also I used my new favorite "film strip" washi tape. Plus I love the white space that allowed room for my embellishments and journaling! In fact,  I have been on a "white paper" kick lately...I have used it in some way, usually in an obvious way, on my last 8 layouts!

Three pieces of trivia in relation to our family's celebration of Fourth of July:
1 > I have never scrapped a Fourth of July layout using Red, White, and Blue as the dominant colors.
2 > The reason for the above is that we rarely wear Red, White, and Blue when we celebrate the holiday.
3 > Most of my later pictures of Fourth of July do not have my son in them because he is usually in Ohio w/ his dad during that time.

Okie dokie!
It's your turn to show us how you were inspired!
Please stop by the "SIWAS" blog and share your creation!

09/05/13 - SIWAS: "Good Morning Little School Girl"

Greetings!
I am here today to share w/ you the latest challenge going on over at "Scrap It W/ A Song".
The challenge song this week is "Good Morning Little School Girl" by the Yardbirds.
Not my kind of music but luckily you don't need to know or like the song in order to get inspired!

The title instantly inspired me to scrap a picture of my daughter on her first day of school this year:

"Day 1 of Jr High"
Journaling: "Madi shows off her casual style and a nervous smile on
her 1st day of Jr. High"

I stated that I scrapped "A" picture of her on her first day but what I should have said was I scrapped "THE ONLY" picture of her on her first day.  The older she gets the harder it is to get her to pose for a "first day of school" (FDofS) picture. I was lucky to get this one! Despite the struggle, I always want to get a FDofS picture, but on this particular day it was really important because it was her first day of Jr High! Yup, no more Elementary School for my Baby Girl! :'(

Speaking of important FDofS moments...this year my son is a Senior in High School!
That is a big deal for sure!
His last year before the dreaded "adulthood"! Yikes!
Since it fits w/ the theme of this blog post  I would like to share my layout of those pictures as well!
And yes, I said "pictures" as in plural...I have never had a problem getting him to take pictures! LOL!
(FYI - this layout was completed for a "Scraplift" challenge over at SB.Com.)

"1st Day of Senior Year"

I think this is the first year I scrapped both their FDofS pictures w/in a month of taking them!
Yay, me! Now to go back and take care of some of the rest of the years!!!
:0P

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to do so at the "SIWAS" blog as well!

08/23/13 - SIWAS: "...Country Road"

Hey there!
Just wanted to  let you know that "Scrap It With a Song" has a new challenge up!
The song pick this week is:
"Take Me Home Country Road" by John Denver

Had a lot of trouble w/ this one as I was taking the title and lyrics of the song to literal.
Finally I stopped and just tried to think what did the song make me think of? Finally the answer came: the outdoors!
Once that was decided I came up w/ this:

 "Front Yard View"
Picture dates: 8/24/12 & 5/28/12

No journaling on this one. Just a couple of pictures that I took in our front yard that I really like!
The first picture is my doggie, Ivanna, my daughter, Madison, and her kitty, Panini, just hanging out on our lawn.  The second is of Ivanna and me hanging out on our porch.  Both pictures where taken from the point of view that you can see the street in front of our house, so that helps tie in the song a little: street = road.

The BG paper is one I would normally shy away from because it is a "scenery" page. But I decided to just have fun w/ it! Besides adding a 6x6 piece of patterned paper to anchor my pictures I just added a few nature embellies to liven up the page. The nature stickers all came from an Echo Park sticker sheet I have had in my stash for about a year and never touched. It is so cute but I think I was just too afraid to use it! Funny how that happens...LOL!

Make sure you stop by and see what the other DT members created and hopefully you will be inspired to share something w/ us!
You have until August 31, 2013.
Hope to see you there!

08/08/13 - SIWAS: "Fantastic Voyage"

Hi there!
Just stopping by to let you know the new challenge is up over at "Scrap It With a Song".
The current challenge is "Fantastic Voyage" by David Bowie.

The title would have made it easy to do a travel page, but I went in a whole different direction w/ this one! The lyrics "Remember it's true, loyalty is valuable" inspired me to scrap the receipt of my Gold Rewards Card from Starbucks.

"Rewards"
Journaling:"I go to Starbucks way too much; at least once a week! So when I read about their
"Loyalty Program" I decided to join. Might as well get something out of all my visits! After
5 visits you're at Green Level which gets you some rewards (free drink on your birthday).
But after 30 visits, Gold Level, you get a gold card with your name on it and
even more rewards! I got my gold card on 6/17/2013"

Here is a close-up of the picture which incudes the "congrats" letter from Starbucks:

If you didn't read it, Starbucks calls the points we earn "stars" so the "superstah" and star embellies worked perfectly (you'll see below the other reason I included "stars" on my layout)!

I'm also entering this layout into the following challenges:

> "My Scraps and More" Sketch #40:

> "Scrapbook.com":  August Music Challenge
> "Scrapbook.com": August Hoarders Challenge

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to stop by the SIWAS blog to share your layout w/ us!

07/25/13 - SIWAS: "So What"

Hello!
The new challenge for "Scrap It With a Song" is up today!
The song choice this week is "So What" by Pink.

Here is my layout:
"Rock of Ages"
Journaling: July 14th 2013 - Vegas trip for our 12th anniversary. Saw "Rock of Ages"
and had drinks at "The Bourbon Room"

This time around I didn't use the title or even any lyrics from the song on my layout. Instead I used some of the lyrics as inspiration.
The lyrics that inspired me are: "I'm still a rock star, I got my rock moves".
"Rock star", "Rock moves", "Rock of Ages".

Great inspiration!

FYI - I used our tickets, a coaster I took from "The Bourbon Room", and the fake LED lighter they gave us during the performance as embellies.

Don't forget to stop by the blog and share your inspired project!

07/11/13 - SIWAS: "WIth Ur Love"

The new challenge is up at  "Scrap It With a Song" and this week's inspiration song was chosen by me!
The song is "With Ur Love" by Cher Lloyd.
My daughter and I are obsessed w/ her cd and I am especially obsessed w/ this song!

It's a fun, upbeat song, about love and how the love of this one man makes her so happy!
Love it!
Every time I listen to it it makes ME happy!

Quick Note: the video posted over at the SIWAS blog is a remake of the song. I do not like the remake as it has a rap sequence in it by some guy...I have no clue who he is.  The original song is the one I love and the one posted above.

Okay now back to the challenge.
When I chose the song, about a month ago, I was going to scrap a "love" themed layout. But as the time came to actually create my layout, one particular lyric kept jumping out at me:
"Standing on top w/ a killer view"
I know, it's weird, why that particular lyric?
IDK!

But as I thought about it, I realized it would be a perfect title for pictures of us at the Grand Canyon!
We took a trip to the Grand Canyon in 2009 and I have never scrapped a single picture from that trip.
Not one!

So w/ out further ado, here is my layout:

"(Standing on Top With a) Killer View"

Not only did the song lyric work perfect for the title, but I found a great sketch over at "My Scraps and More":

And I once again used up a lot of old stash:
The title letters, the wood buttons, the chipboard clouds, and lots of Sassafras stickers.

So, despite the weird lyric choice, everything came together perfectly in the end!

Love, love, love this layout!
And I can't wait to see the different inspired projects that are submitted for this challenge.
Remember you have until July 31st, 2013.

06/28/13 - SIWAS "Girl On Fire"

This week's song inspiration at "Scrap It With a Song" is "Girl on Fire" by Alicia Keyes.
As always is the case w/ most of these song challenges I had no idea what I was going to do!
Honestly I don't even like the song! I'm not a fan of Alicia Keyes.
But I found some of the song lyrics actually fit in w/ my life at this moment.
The lyrics that grabbed my attention were: "Nobody knows that she is a lonely girl" and I included them on a sticky tab on my layout.

Before I explain further let me share my layout:

 "Lonely"
Journaling: "All my life I have felt lonely, like I didn't really belong anywhere.
At 37 years old this feeling caused me to make some difficult choices.
Still not sure were I will end up"

As the journaling reads I have always had to struggle w/ a sense of loneliness in my life. It's something w/in me that unfortunately no one can fix. I can be in a room full of people and still feel lonely . This caused me to make some very big mistakes in my life which unfortunately caused me more loneliness. This need to get "away" from the loneliness caused me to make difficult choices. And just 3 weeks ago I decided to walk away from it all to clear my head.

I still don't know what's going to happen.
I wasn't happy, I'm still not, and to tell you the truth I don't know if/when I ever will be again.
At this point I'm just trying to survive and figure out who I am.

I don't want to turn this into a depressing post, so let me talk more about the layout itself.

I included some selfies I took on the first day of when I was away "clearing my head". You can see from one how sad I was and from the other how lost I felt. Not sure why one came out so orange but oh well I just went w/ it and used orange on my layout to help  highlight it. I used a lot of scraps as embellies and though I tried to stick w/ the orange color pallette I eventually branched out to other colors.  Sometimes when I do this it doesn't work but on this layout... I love it! BTW - the pink circle isn't just random - it actually says things like "quest" and "explore" on it which fits the theme of my layout.

Not all layouts are "happy" layouts and despite what happens, I am glad that I documented this time in my life.

Okay that's all from me today.
Please stop by the SIWAS blog and share w/ us how you were inspired by this weeks song pick!

06/13/13 - SIWAS: "Cruise"

"Heidi-ho there, neighbor!"
Do you remember what show that's from?!
I don't even know why it popped into my mind cuz I haven't watched "Home Improvement" in forever but there it was and I chose to use it.

Today I am sharing w/ you the latest challenge over at "Scrap It With a Song".
This weeks challenge is "Cruise" by Florida Georgia Line and Nelly.
Never heard of the song or group before this!
But luckily the title of the song works for scrapping pics of the Disney Cruise we took in October 2011.

"Disney Cruise"
Journaling: "October 2011. Our family goes on a Disney Cruise. Fun was had by all!"

I have tons of pics from that cruise but they are all tucked away in a nice "Disney Cruise" themed photo album. And since I couldn't scrap every pic even if I tried, I decided to select 2 pics from the cruise that 'summarizes' the event: a picture of the ship and a picture of all of us taking a picture w/ a Disney character.
So I summed up a 7 day cruise in 2 pics! Which is much better than scrapping 200 + pictures!!! Yikes!

The colors on this layout are a litle...ummm... "weird", for lack of a better term.
I mixed bright colors w/ dark colors and alternated them to go w/ the bright colors of the top pic and dark colors of the bottom pic. I also carried on the bright/dark colors theme w/ the yellow letters on the bottom pic. The yellow letters spell out "us" to go w/ the "4" therefore spelling out "Us 4". Then to break up the mass amounts of colors, I added some white elements: the journaling tag and the heart. And finally I added some self-adhesive Mickey Mouse embellies to help round out the whole Disney theme.

Okay that's all from me today.
Please stop by the SIWAS blog and share w/ us how you were inspired by this weeks song pick!

06/06/13 - SIT: #113 and SIWAS: "Suit and Tie"

Hi!
I'm here to today to share 2 challenges and my layouts based on those challenges...

 First-

Sketch #113:

Here is my interpretation:

"Remember When...Happy Day"

These pics were taken during Spring Break of this year. We went up to the San Jacinto mountains to go hiking and my hubby took these pics of my daughter and I. My daughter rarely takes pictures w/ me... and I am rarely in pictures so I love these pics!

I had a lot of fun with the "cluster of circles" part of the sketch! And I am still LOVING those self adhesive kraft shapes! I really need to get to Target and see if they have any more!

Second-

First off, let me tell you... it is not my Teams week to complete a layout, but when I saw what song was chosen as this week's inspiration I just had too make one anyway!

The song is....drum roll please...."Suit and Tie" by Justin Timberlake.
But of course, if you actually read my post title you already knew that! LOL!

I have loved JT since he was in *NSync, and when he went solo I followed him and he did not disappoint! I have continued to be a huge fan of his and his lastest CD is my obsession right now! So when the other half of our Design Team was assigned his current hit as their inspiration, I just had to jump in and create something as well!

"Dressed Up In Black and White"
Journaling: "David and Madi dancing in the lobby before dinner 10/24/11"

The song actually was an inspiration in many ways for this layout:
> The title, "Suit and Tie" (see my hubby's clothes)
> the fact that the song is about dancing (self-explanatory)
> the line "And you're dressed in that dress I like" (see my daughter's dress)
But I finally settled on another lyric from the song for my title: "All Dressed Up in Black & White"..
although I took out the word "All" because those little letter stickers are a pain to work w/! LOL!
They are both wearing black and white, hence the title choice,  and although it may be difficult to tell my daughter's dress also has pink on it... that's why I went w/ a lot of pink on my layout! Besides the  being happy w/ the look of the layout, I am also happy because I used a lot of leftover items on this!

The pics were taken when we were on our Disney Cruise in 2011. We were waiting in the lobby to be seated for dinner and they were playimg music so my husband grabbed my daughter and started dancing w/ her.  It was the first time they had ever done something like that and she was a little startled at first but later on she got into it and she really enjoyed it! It's hard to tell but in the picture on the right, she actually has her eyes closed as she rests her head on her daddy's chest. Such a precious moment!!!

Okay, that's all from me today!
Don't forget to stop by either or both blogs to share you're inspired creations!
You have until June 30th!

05/23/13: SIT -Sketch #112 and SIWAS - "Let It Rain"

It's 2 for 1 Thursday on my blog today!
I have 2 layouts to share w/ you for 2 different blog challenges!
Hmmm... would that then be 2 for 2 instead of 2 for 1?
IDK...but who cares! LOL!

First layout is for the current challenge over at "Sketches In Thyme"; Sketch #112.

Here is the original sketch:

And this is what I was inspired to create:

"Box Fun"

Journaling: "Just like the stereotype about kitties goes,
Panini loves playing in boxes"

As you can see I strayed from the original quite a bit! Not only did I not do the 2 pager (although I never do, LOL) I also only used some of the elements of the original sketch.  I did make a partial grid and include some blocks of paper but for the most part I didn't follow the sketch but instead let it "inspire me".

I had a lot of fun w/ the kraft heart embellies!  I bought them out of the dollar bin at Target.  They are self-adhesive and also come w/ a lot of other shapes in the package.  All I did was stick them on my page and outline them w/ my zig and done!!! Not bad for $1!

The next layout is for "Scrap It With a Song".
The song inspiration this week is "Let It Rain" by Amanda Marshall.
Usually I like to use the song title as my layout title or at least somewhere in the journaling, but since I didn't have any "rain" pictures to scrap, I just used a line from the song for my title:

"It Isn't Easy 2 Be Kind"
Journaling: ("Snapshots" embellie): "Ivanna and Panini BFFs - Not! Nov 13, 2012"
(Under the right pic): "Ivanna and Panini just can't seem to get along! IDK if it's because of the
age difference or because of they are of different species or both!"

As soon as I read that line I thought of my 2 fur babies who just can't seem to be nice to each other!  And these pics went perfectly w/ the theme.  Look at them pretending not to know the other exists! LOL! Love them so much!

I used some washi tape on this, a product I love but always seem to forget to use! At first I thought it would look awkward since the tape was dark compared to the soft colors on the rest of the layout, but in the end I think it added a nice "pop"of contrast!

Okay, it's your turn!!
Please top by either, or both, of the blogs and share w/ us your creations as inspired by this weeks challenge!

05/15/13: CPC - Buttons and SIWAS -"Soak Up The Sun"

Yay, I'm on time today!!!
Well...kinda ...sorta!

I have 2 challenges to share w/ you today.
One actually went live today, the other a week ago...so yeah only kinda, sorta, on time!

Let's start w/ this weeks challenge over at "Child's Play Challenges".
This week we are inspiring you w/ buttons!
Here is the inspiration pic:

Oooooohhhhhh.....Aaaahhhhhhhh!
So colorful and pretty, right?!
I love using buttons on my layouts!
They're a fun, easy, fairly cheap, embellie and the come in so many different shapes, sizes and colors!

Here is what I created:

"M&M Girls"
Journaling: "3/21/13 - M&M Store, Vegas.
My favorite = Brown   Madi's favorite = Green"

During our last trip to M&M World in Vegas, in March, I found out that Madison's favorite M&M character was the Green M&M. I also have a favorite, the Brown one, so when I saw these displays I wanted to take pics of them to memoralize these faves of ours.  Kinda silly, I know, but I think it will be fun to have  this to look back on. After all, things change! Also, I think it's funny how we actually have "favorites" of such random things! I mean really, a favorite M&M character? What's that about! LOL!

In keeping w/ the inspiration theme, I  used buttons (and brads and eyelets and self-adhesive dots) to mimic M&M candies.

Okay, next challenge, which went live on May 9th (Yikes)!

During the month of May, "Scrap It W/ A Song", is inspiring you w/ songs about the weather.
The layout I am going to share w/ you was inspired by the song "Soak Up the Sun" by Sheryl Crow.

Here is my layout:

"Soak Up the Sun"
Journaling:"Madison enjoying the sun-inspired fountain at the Redlands Shopping Center."

Not much of a story to tell about this layout.
Just some older photos of Madison enjoying the water fountain at a shopping center we frequent.
This was 2 years ago when simple things like this still made her happy!

*Note: I used a sketch I found online but now I can't remember where or who designed it! So I apologize in advance to the person if they stumble across my blog and recognize their work w/out my giving credit!

Okay well that's all from me today!
Don't forget to come on by either blog and share the projects you were inspired to create!
Challenges are open until May 31st, 2013!

03/27/23 Planning with Urban Journal Season Ink

My printer was having issues and I fixed it but during the interim I was not scrapping and lost my mojo ::le sigh:: But I've still been ...
