05/23/13: SIT -Sketch #112 and SIWAS - "Let It Rain"

It's 2 for 1 Thursday on my blog today!
I have 2 layouts to share w/ you for 2 different blog challenges!
Hmmm... would that then be 2 for 2 instead of 2 for 1?
IDK...but who cares! LOL!

First layout is for the current challenge over at "Sketches In Thyme"; Sketch #112.

Here is the original sketch:

And this is what I was inspired to create:

"Box Fun"

Journaling: "Just like the stereotype about kitties goes,
Panini loves playing in boxes"

As you can see I strayed from the original quite a bit! Not only did I not do the 2 pager (although I never do, LOL) I also only used some of the elements of the original sketch.  I did make a partial grid and include some blocks of paper but for the most part I didn't follow the sketch but instead let it "inspire me".

I had a lot of fun w/ the kraft heart embellies!  I bought them out of the dollar bin at Target.  They are self-adhesive and also come w/ a lot of other shapes in the package.  All I did was stick them on my page and outline them w/ my zig and done!!! Not bad for $1!

The next layout is for "Scrap It With a Song"
The song inspiration this week is "Let It Rain" by Amanda Marshall.
Usually I like to use the song title as my layout title or at least somewhere in the journaling, but since I didn't have any "rain" pictures to scrap, I just used a line from the song for my title:

"It Isn't Easy 2 Be Kind"
Journaling: ("Snapshots" embellie): "Ivanna and Panini BFFs - Not! Nov 13, 2012"
(Under the right pic): "Ivanna and Panini just can't seem to get along! IDK if it's because of the
age difference or because of they are of different species or both!"

As soon as I read that line I thought of my 2 fur babies who just can't seem to be nice to each other!  And these pics went perfectly w/ the theme.  Look at them pretending not to know the other exists! LOL! Love them so much!

I used some washi tape on this, a product I love but always seem to forget to use! At first I thought it would look awkward since the tape was dark compared to the soft colors on the rest of the layout, but in the end I think it added a nice "pop"of contrast!

Okay, it's your turn!!
Please top by either, or both, of the blogs and share w/ us your creations as inspired by this weeks challenge!

05/15/13: CPC - Buttons and SIWAS -"Soak Up The Sun"

Yay, I'm on time today!!!
Well...kinda ...sorta!

I have 2 challenges to share w/ you today.
One actually went live today, the other a week ago...so yeah only kinda, sorta, on time!

Let's start w/ this weeks challenge over at "Child's Play Challenges".
This week we are inspiring you w/ buttons!
Here is the inspiration pic:

Oooooohhhhhh.....Aaaahhhhhhhh!
So colorful and pretty, right?!
I love using buttons on my layouts!
They're a fun, easy, fairly cheap, embellie and the come in so many different shapes, sizes and colors!

Here is what I created:

"M&M Girls"
Journaling: "3/21/13 - M&M Store, Vegas.
My favorite = Brown   Madi's favorite = Green"

During our last trip to M&M World in Vegas, in March, I found out that Madison's favorite M&M character was the Green M&M. I also have a favorite, the Brown one, so when I saw these displays I wanted to take pics of them to memoralize these faves of ours.  Kinda silly, I know, but I think it will be fun to have  this to look back on. After all, things change! Also, I think it's funny how we actually have "favorites" of such random things! I mean really, a favorite M&M character? What's that about! LOL!

In keeping w/ the inspiration theme, I  used buttons (and brads and eyelets and self-adhesive dots) to mimic M&M candies.

Okay, next challenge, which went live on May 9th (Yikes)!

During the month of May, "Scrap It W/ A Song", is inspiring you w/ songs about the weather.
The layout I am going to share w/ you was inspired by the song "Soak Up the Sun" by Sheryl Crow.

Here is my layout:

"Soak Up the Sun"
Journaling:"Madison enjoying the sun-inspired fountain at the Redlands Shopping Center."

Not much of a story to tell about this layout.
Just some older photos of Madison enjoying the water fountain at a shopping center we frequent.
This was 2 years ago when simple things like this still made her happy!

*Note: I used a sketch I found online but now I can't remember where or who designed it! So I apologize in advance to the person if they stumble across my blog and recognize their work w/out my giving credit!

Okay well that's all from me today!
Don't forget to come on by either blog and share the projects you were inspired to create!
Challenges are open until May 31st, 2013!

05/14/13 - SIT Sketch #110

Hello there!
Long time no see...errr...blog!
Once again I am late for the party!
Not good!
Well they say "better late than never" so w/ that in mind I am here to share the latest sketch over at "Sketches in Thyme":

Sketch # 110:

And my interpretation of it:

"Pucker Up"
Journaling: "Spring Break '13. Madi at the M&M store in Vegas"

The green M&M is my daughter's favorite M&M character so when we saw this cute doll of her making a kissy face I of course had to take a picture of my daughter imitating her! I think she did a really good job! LOL!

As you can see, this time I stayed true to the original sketch.
I added a few minor modifications, but for the most part the sketch worked for me as is!

Please stop by SIT and show us how it works for you!
Link up by May 31st for your chance to be a guest Maven  in July!!

03/27/23 Planning with Urban Journal Season Ink

My printer was having issues and I fixed it but during the interim I was not scrapping and lost my mojo ::le sigh:: But I've still been ...
