03/25/19 - Use Your Stuff Challenge #352

The current challenge at "Use Your Stuff"  is Black & White + 1 color.

I went w/ Black & White & Green/Teal
This is a page created for my Book Of Me.
I documented a "To-Do" list which included getting some Starbucks, YUM!

BTW - it was a New-To-Me drink so I will be scrapping this photo in my PL album also.

The page is very simple.
But sometimes the simplest pages are my fave...especially went it involves some stash-busting!

Piggy-backing off our last challenge of using washi I used an old, yet never before opened, washi tape I bought on clearance at Target.
I love the pop of color it adds!

The BG paper is old, so old!
Like so old I can't even estimate it's length of time in my stash!

The "to do" is a stamp from Pink Paislee.

The coffee phrase stickers, the wood frappuccino embellishment, the "so excited to try this" puffy sticker and the 3x4 pocket card for my journaling are all from Elle's Studio.

As I write this post my mind is wandering to that frap; I need to get me another one...SOON!

Speaking of soon, you have 1 week to play along... hope to see you do so!

03/22/19 - "Captain Marvelous"

Hi there!
Just stopping by to share my latest (Traveler's Notebook) Layout.
I was inspired to create a layout for the latest challenge over at "Scrap the Boys".
The challenge is to be inspired by this mood board:

When I saw this photo my son posted on his Instagram of him in front of the "Captain Marvel" movie poster, I knew it would be just perfect!
(Yes, I totally stole the photo, taking a screenshot of it, LOL)

Journaling:
"10 Mar 2019
Joseph was Super excited to see this movie...he loved it!

My son is into Super Heroes and Cosplay.
This day he went to the movies, w/ my husband, wearing a partial Captain Marvel cosplay outfit.
I think the proper term in this instance is Gender-Bender Cosplay.

I think he looked great and especially so in front of the Movie Poster.
There was some filtering going on as well as you can see from the stars in the photo.
To create the layout I layered plain back cardstock over my blank white TN pages and then partially layered that w/ some leftover "Circus" themed PP from Ella and Viv Paper Company:

I thought the colors were perfect!
The "Amazing" sticker is also from the same Circus Paper pack.

I then proceeded to add lots of Elle's Studio puffy star and puffy dot stickers until I felt satisfied.
Actually looking at the layout I realize that all the rest of the embellishments are from Elle's Studio, including the Alphas, LOL! I even included some scraps from an old project (see the orange & white tab pieces on each side of the layout).

The title was a mix of the movie title, "Captain Marvel", and the word "Marvelous"; since my son really liked the movie!
I thought it'd be a fun play on words.

Finally I stamped the date, included a tag and some journaling, and a couple of staples from my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher and called my layout done!

I'll admit that due to a scrappy slump I've been having lately, it took me a lot longer than it should have to get this layout done.
I second-guessed myself through the entire process, even ruining and tossing some scrappy supplies in the process! ::sigh::
But in the end, and after telling myself to walk away from it and coming back to it days later w/ fresh eyes, I realize just how much I like it!

Thinking about it though, I don't know if it qualifies for the challenge as there is technically a girl in the photo, even if it's a girl in a poster.
But even if it doesn't, I am happy for the inspiration and for getting another memory scrapped!

03/19/19 - "Use Your Stuff" Challenge #351

This week's "Use Your Stuff" challenge is Washi.

I used to be a washi addict, buying it and using it constantly, but then I stopped and my stash has basically sat unused for years.
I challenged myself to use mostly washi on this 2-Pager for my "Book of Me":

"Meh"
Journaling: "That moment when the hoodie you're wearing sums you up perfectly
LOL #Mood - 18 Oct 2016"

The washi is from We R Memory Keepers (red) and Queen & Company (film strip).

Besides washi I used items from Pinkfresh Studios (the "blah" sticker) and Elle's Studio (pretty much everything else).

Hope you have time to come play w/ us!

03/08/19 - Even Oscar Winners Get Teased

That moment when...
a Travelers Notebook spread turns into a Life Lesson,
hahahaha!

I saw this post on IG and laughed (way too hard) at it so I decided to document it.
I'm weird like that.
But I like to think it shows my (sometimes inappropriate) sense of humor and it also captures Pop Culture history.
Future Generations will know who won the 2019 Best Actor Oscar Award.
You're Welcome, Future Generations!

It took a weird "After School Special" turn though.
IDK where that came from but its okay.
I like it!

Poor Rami...
But heck, he won an Oscar so I'm sure he's fine, LOL

Trying to use up my Travelers Notebook stash (plus general stash).
Most items from Kelly Purkey...with some Elle's Studio sprinkled in.

03/07/19 - "Beyond Delish"

Last year I went a little scrap-crazy.
This year I'm taking it easy.

Not to say I didn't enjoy all the scrapping I did last year, because I did!
But you know, sometimes the desire to "keep-up" can start to make it a little less enjoyable.

I'm still doing Project Life, though I'm considerably slower...
I'm not trying to stay caught-up but instead, creating as I feel the desire to.

I'm trying to allow myself to "breathe" (#OLW).

I have my 2019 Project Life Album out and open to the page that needs working on and as I find time (or the desire), I work on it.
I also bounce around a little getting bits-and-pieces of it done.

For example I'm still finishing Week #06, but have already done a part of Week #07 (which I already shared here: My Cuddle Bug).

Today I bring you a layout I created that is also part of Week 07:

"Beyond Delish"
(The bottom outlining got a little bit cut-off)

Journaling:

.
.
.

A couple of things to point out -
1) this layout was inspired by the Scrap Lift challenge over at Scrapbook.com
I lifted this layout:

I even included a bear, LOL

2) this is my first time (ever) trying typed journaling strips
I love the look of it on other peoples layouts but have never really tried it, thinking I wouldn't be able to do it.
I did it and though I'm not 100% happy w/ them, I can see them being a "thing" for me, w/ more practice
Yay, for new (to me) techniques!

I hope your enjoying your scrappy-journey so far this year, whatever that entails!

03/04/19 - "Use Your Stuff" Challenge # 349

The "Use Your Stuff" challenge this week is all about rainbows!

I created a Traveler's Notebook spread with photos my son posted on his Instagram for "National Coming Out Day".
Can't get more Rainbow than that, LOL!

Also, even though I didn't know it at the time, this spread will work for the latest Lisa and Lori's Traveler's Notebook Challenge which is to create a layout about someone you love and include a heart.

It's a new challenge blog so if you get the chance, go check it out!

Two 2x3 photos, a rain drop patterned paper, a pocket page card, and a few scattered embellishments was all I needed to create this two-pager.
The BG paper is Amy Tangerine (it's been in my stash approximately 3 years), the "authentic you" sticker is Pink Fresh Studio, and the staples are from Tim Holtz' Tiny Attacher; one of my new favorite scrappy tools.
Everything else is from Elle's Studio.

It's been a while since I've created a Traveler's Notebook layout, and I had forgotten just how much I enjoy it! Though I am clearly out of practice, as I discovered when I cut the paper for the 2nd page a little bit too narrow.
It could also be the timing of the creation of my layout.
Though I had the idea in my head for a few days, I didn't create it until the last minute.
We went away for the weekend and I came home and created this when we got back, when I was tired and just wanting to rest from my weekend adventures...
So I didn't spend a lot of time on it, nor is it very creative, but the colorful style of it gives it a fun feel and despite the seriousness of the topic, fun is what I was going for.
I think when you're going for fun, and colorful, rainbows are definitely the way to go!

I hope you'll join us!

03/27/23 Planning with Urban Journal Season Ink

My printer was having issues and I fixed it but during the interim I was not scrapping and lost my mojo ::le sigh:: But I've still been ...
